Is the MSP a Subaru?

I get it all the time I just wish it was built as fast as a sti

I need to throw in my two cents, when the mazdaspeed protege was new it was 21,000 around there. The sti was in the high 30s let's do the math, that's ten grand of a difference. Hell with those extra ten thousand we could of gotten so much more power in our cars but our cars would of been brand new around 30000. So people please stop comparing they are different price ranges. Besides stys aren't that cool. Evo is a lot better but that is just my opinion. One more thing sty are everywhere and well our cars are not there rare, more exclusive just with that we are far superior at car shows.

Agreed! EVO is totally more badass then a STI. Besides my 91 tsi ( a EVOs' little brother) with a few mods smocked a 05 STI while I was running 8psi.... (flame2)

Exactly sti aren't superior to everything, they can be taken down with the right mods.

Ya, the only thing that makes me laugh is that he paid thousands of dollars and mine with mods is around $3,000. I just know also for a fact that the sti motor can't handle near as much power and stress then the 4g63 without forged internals. I just love Mitsubishi. lol

Also, too bad 4g63s sound like vacum cleaners. And have crank-walk issues... like I'm one to talk about engine issues. L3-VDT FTL.

I own a Mitsu in Dodge clothing (87 Colt Vista) and she'll eventually get a 4G63-T dropped in her. However, I do like the rarity factor of my Spicy when driving about.

Still cracked me up when someone said (in the "You know you're driving an MSP when... thread) you look at a Lambo's orange, then you look back at your Spicy and realized your Spicy is a much better color!

This happened to me last year, keep in mind the Vibrant gives off a slightly Subie exhaust note:

Ricer: "Nice STi."
Me: "its a Mazda dude."
Ricer: "No its not, thats a Subaru"
Me: "Its a Mazdaspeed Protege. Its my car I think I'd know what it was"
Ricer: "It looks like a STi and sounds like an STi man."

With a nice exhaust, these do sound a bit Subaru-ish, but not enough to confuse it. We do however sound like SRT-4's...but don't look like one.

uhh IMO SRT-4 sounds way diffrent and i hope any MSP owner does not get the sound of a boxter engine confused with ours. lol or any other motor for that matter

the "boxer" sound comes from unequal length exhaust manifolds, so, given that our manifolds are pretty unequal length, its not that absurd. no, its not the same, but it is similar in some cases.

Crank walk was in the 2g dsm NOT the 1g( 7 bolt is a 95-99 and 6 bolt 90-94...) The engine is rated the 2nd best 4 cylinder ever created. Not saying there the best car just there still faster then a sti. lol

Someone asked if my car was a Subaru. It looks nothing like a Subaru to me and has a decent sized Mazda emblem on the front grill. Has your car been mistaken for another auto maker?

(rant)...My wife woke me this A.M to let me know that someone had egged my MSP (2X again in last six month) and should call the cops. Hell yes I called and the police showed to take a look & statement. Convo was SOP then as he started writing:

LEO: What year Subaru is this?
Me: It's 2003 MSP.
LEO: Looks like a Subaru to me. Did you change the emblems?
Me: No it's all OEM from Mazda.
LEO: Wow, looks good for a Mazda. (toetap)
Me: Any other reports tonight about eggings in town?
LEO: No, this appears to be a targerted incident. No eggs on the other cars?
Me: No just mine.
LEO: Well, there is a another Blue Subaru in town. You know him?
Me: No, I don't hang out with those folks.

Pretty standard from there. Gave me a case number & I had trek acroos town @0300 to use a car wash pressue hose to attempt to get the eggs off my car. gonna have to re-wash & detail her today...(pissed)
