is my ebrake on?

is there any surefire way to tell if my e brake pads are rubbing a bit? i tightened them a bit to see if they would lock the rear wheels when i pulled it, but it still wont. and i figure if it cant lock them up, the pads cant be rubbing. but it feels like there is some decreased acceleration in the car. it is most likely an overactive imagination but i was just wondering if there was a way to tell for sure.

Get under the car and look at the clearance would be the most obvious answer.:D

all right, i hopped underneath to look, but im not exactly sure where i should be looking. rear wheel, obviously. but with one person, i cant tell what is the e brake. do you have a picture, or can you describe it to me?
thanks

why did you tighten it? i can lock the back wheels by holding hte button and yanking it up like crazy...maybe some weights would be in order?

Tahat can be adjusted and it is under warranty. Just take it to the Dealership and they should fix it. if you pull it up all the way your back tires should be locked up.

i know its under warranty, but id rather do it myself and not hassle with the dealership. can someone please just tell me how to check the clearance of the brake under the car? thank you.
ps a picture of it might help

i was under the impression an e brake only locked one of the back wheels, not both. therefor shouldnt only one of them be locking up.

i had the same problem with my brake, i crawled under to tighten it and i didn't see where to adjust so i decided to fool with it another day. after thinking about it i think i only saw the cable going to one wheel. do we have just a parking brake on one wheel? if so that is kind of shafty. how am i supposed to powerslide around corners after i get about 200 hp out of this thing and i start racing the mailman around the neighborhood?

lol

i am fairly certain that the ebrake is attached to both wheels, but i also have the problem where it is extremely difficult to get them to lock up. although i have managed to get them to do it when the road was wet and i yanked the crap out of the handle. so if anyone knows of a way to get the ebrake to lock the wheels easier i would appreciate it.

the parking brake DOES go to both back wheels....and IF you can NOT pull up your EBrake and lock up the rear wheels...YOU have a problem.....as its not going to do you any good on a hill as a PARKING break either!

if you want to test to see if its dragging...its as simple as jacking up the car and with the ebrake off....get out there and spin the wheel.

yeah i got back under there the other day and saw it going to bothe wheels but it still doesn't lock up, where is the adjustment at?

I haven't looked, but...

sometimes the adjustment(s) is/are at the base of the hand brake lever itself and not under the car where it can get dirty and corroded. This means you might have to remove the console or reach in along side the lever with a socket and extension to get to the adjustments.

It IS under the plastic piece around the hand brake lever. just grab the edge and pull and it will come right off. There is a small bolt in there to turn and tighten it (10mm maybe?) You can look at it and tell that by tightning this it will tighten the cord going to the lever. BUT BE CAREFUL. you can overtighten it and have your E-brake on all the time. The light would not come on because it is triggered by the hand brake lever and not by how tight the cord it.
