Is it ok to wire ahead of time?

and there was a question you had about running the wires.. yeah.. I woudl not run them together.. the power wire and the RCA's. I try to run everythign separate. I htink you have everything done now.. and if you did not do this.. it is not a biggie unless you are getting noise.. so I would not worry if you did run them together.

got me chief :(

Alpine MRP-T220

so what are you trying to say.. do you want me to look it up myself.. hehe.. j/k.. I looked her up for ya.. this is what I found..

14.4V RMS Continuous Power
2ohm; Stereo (0.3% THD) 70W x 2
4ohm; Bridged (0.3% THD) 140W x 1

see what I mean.. itis only rated at 4ohms for bridged. so you wont be able to run them in parallel if they are 4ohms.. I have heard some BA's are 3 ohms.. though.. ??? so that woudl be even more worser..

no they are 4ohm speakers :(

i dont understand it says 4ohm, bridged 140x1 couldnt i plug both speakers in for the 1 lol and get 70 per speaker instead of 50?

to plug the speakers into one.. then you change the impedance the amp sees.. ( the ohms) depending on how you hook up the speakers together then you can have 8ohms (in series) or 2ohms (parallel). if you did 8ohms you would have less power. the ohms is the resistance of the VC's. the less resistance the more current flow.. if you think of current as water.. and though about putting your thumb over the end of the hose.. covering up the end not letting the water out is very resistive.. but if you open yoru thumb just a littel some water gets out.. that is not as resistive.. but if you take your thumb all the way off no resistance.. current is the same way.. teh more resistance the less current flow.. ifyou have less current you have less power.. power is current x voltage (or it is current squared times ohms).. so less current = less power.. if you have the amp bridged then it cant have that low of a resistance cause it wont beable to output that much power.. it will shut down.. and mabye be broke.. cause the 2ohms will create more current flow which means more power.

you have to have the resistance to.. that is what creates the sound.

if I dont make sense let m ekonw.. that was kinda confusing for me.. long night.. last night..

ok now i just got my amp in my hands :D shes beautiful..anyhow...i have these setting on the back, not sure what i should set them at:

Filter (80hz) - OFF/HL/LP
Bass Eq - 0dB through 12dB
Gain - Min/Nominal/.5V/Max

and i got a thing that says speaker level input and looks like its a wiring harness jack i have no clue what that is...of course i also have input RCA jacks and im not THAT much of an idiot :)

nope makes sense :D

damn I tried.. sorry.. basically if you have less ohms you get more power.. amp cant handle that much power when it is bridged..

*edit* did i read that wrong.. so it did make sense?

oh also, you think the stock speakers can handle this amp until i get my adapters from servo, then all ill have to do is hook up a set of speakers and be good to go?

filter at HP which is high pass.. lets the high signals get through but the low signals are attenuated..

bass eq I woudl leave that either off or really low. you can change the settings some later by listening. .. .. what was I thinking.. you are hooking up componetns.. dont need the bass eq.. and it don twork with the hp filter anyways.. jackass (that is for me)

the gain is for the signal. you will need to read which one is for 4V preouts.. that is what your alpien has right? then you jsut adfust teh gain after you get everythign hooked up... I was thinking you had a switch. like my amp you choose what signal you have.. then adjust teh knob.. screw whatever.. but your knob just says that stuff.. so you just have to set it.

the speaker level inputs are just a nice feature.. dont need them.. just hook the speaker wires there. adn the amp uses that signal for the amp. you got the good s***.. RCA's. (laugh)

damn how do i find out what to set the gain at? i dont know what voltage my preouts are lol (damn im stupid) and where can i look for the answer?

they are 4V. I am bout positive.. don treally matter.. I was thinking before you had the switch.. but you dont... you just set the volume like 75%. turn the gain up till the speakers start to distort.. then back the gain back down a bit.. that is bout it.. I personally just turn the volume to where I want to set teh max... like 30 on my JVC. then I set teh gain to the loudness that I want.. before they distort.. dont want any distrotion.

ok what about what i asked about hooking up the stock speakers to the amp ^^^^

opps missed that.. well.. I dont think they need to be amped. you just want to since you have the amp? not sure how many ohms? but they are prolly 4. so they will get 50Wrms. seems like alot to me for the stock POS speakers. they woudl prolly be ok. just have to be careful.. and if you hear them start to distort turn them down.

basically i just want to hook everything up to make sure it all works. so once i check rather than redoing everything i could just leave it with the gain all the way down then when i get my adapters ill be set :D

yeah the stock speakers will work for that fine. just hook um up.. prolly already did. you are impatient.. and I understand cause I am to. lata

hook it up.. my car was wired for months with nothing installed.. LoL.. i just finnished putting everything in like 4 days ago.. now i have to clean it all up. -=P
wiring sucks.. take your time.. and hide everything and it will be all to the good.

ok...went to the the ex for the last time for a while and I missed all this! Yikes!

Ok...lemme address some of these things as best as I can (though Parksy has done a great job so far).

1) Matt...50W a side will be just fine, don't worry about it. If you ever need more power, just buy a bigger amp...but for now, you *will* be plenty happy.

2) Filter - HP, Bass EQ - 0dB (causes distortion), Gain this is how I do it...like Parksy: set your HU volume to the loudest you'll ever set it. Make sure the gain is at zero before that, though. Then go back there and slowly turn it up until you notice audible distortion of the signal. Then turn it down a notch...bam! You're all set.

3) Hook up to the stock speakers...it's not a big deal at all. Craig was gonna hook a jl 300/2 to his stockers! (evil)

4) Make sure you get some extra speaker wire. You'll need an extra 5-10ft or so (it's cheap, so just get like a 15' or so roll) to wire up your crossovers, tweeters and midranges. It's better to have extra than to run out again.

thanks for everyones help, i was kinda being an asshole today for a couple of reasons:

1) i ran out of medication
2) i hadnt ate in 12 hours
3) i partially ****** up my left/rear door panel trying to get it off and never did (seemed to be stuck on the top right 3/4 portion somewhere)
4) all the zip ties i got with the knukonceptz kit broke (defective i guess)
5) the power/ground wire doesnt fit into the small ass hole of the connector, and i have nothing strong enough to clamp it down with or open it up even if i could. so im going to head out tommorrow to see what i can come up with.
6) i was frustrated for not being able to wire through the hole in the doors, and haveing to set up off stock wiring, which cost me the extra wire i needed to make it all the way to the amp.

everything else went well. everything is run clean into the back and i have my amp location set up, with the cables coming out of the carpet and right into the amp, so there isnt any crap lying around that you can see. all i need to do is pick up some extra wire (i might not need it though, my NX67s came with a whole bunch that i wont need im sure), and some better brass or gold connectors for my power and ground wires that i can actually fit the wire into. im not sure where im going to mount my fuse holder, prolly behind the battery on the cover horizontally and have the last part snake up the front and onto the terminal...not sure though yet...

i realize i have a lot of work to do to clean up the wiring in general from my neons, as we kinda rushed the install for the last show.

thanks for everyones help and if i was an asshole i apologize, its because of the above reasons.

I dont think you was an asshole. I know it is very fustrating. I always cuss at my stereo installs.. it is just that way.. wrenchs get thrown.. I understand. I know you can get it done.. and when it is done I know you will be proud of it.. hope it goes better today for ya..
