is FMIC worth installing?

Yes. BAT's are what to look for and to try to control. IAT's affect BAT's but there's not much you can do about that under most conditions. I like Darth's suggestion to ditch the coolant supply to the throttle body. Makes sense. Maybe I ought to consider a more reasonably sized FMIC. My experience with them on smaller displacement engine (2.0 L) longer runs, and bigger turbos (Garrett T-3 and T-4 variants) on other platforms had left me cold on the ideal.

The front mount is The Best way to go. Period. In regard to intercoolers. Now the question is do you need one? If you are dragging the car- absolutely. If you sit in traffic or start and stop the car you cannot cool the IC without a good highway run. TMIC really suck because of the heat soak from motor.
Is it worth the cost? Invest in the dashawk first to see what your temps/data are as mentioned by the fellows above me.
My first purchase was the 3.5 ETS in early 2007 before all the other crap load of bolt ups and tuning. And i will have to move to fmic soon enough.
On another note.. splicing the throttle body coolant to reroute is old school and effective for a tuned summer car. actually helps. HP or so i have heard haha. but not for an all season ride for sure

The moment you start eliminating stock lines and whatnot is when you'll begin seeing problems arrise that have nothing to do with why you eliminated them for in the 1st place. I saw it all the time when people did it on Probes and MX-6's. terrible idea. Keep it stock.

Oh dear, why in life do you want to just "keep it stock"? Why not live a little and try out some fun stuff instead?

If you understand how and why things work a little modification or two isn't going to make the sky fall.

In this case, the throttle heat is to prevent icing of the TB under extreme conditions and minimise coke buildup aft of the throttle blade. Anybody who looks after their car and doesn't putt it about all the time isn't going to see any negative effect from this. This car isn't some sh*tbox '80s car, life has moved on and previous wisdom doesn't always apply.

Uh, I believe Darth lives somewhere in Canada, IIRC. Given that, if he's having any cold weather driving issues with that mod, I think he'd have let us know.

Given the frigid artic climes here in South Mississippi (lol), I think I'll be safe to try the mod, regardless, and will put it at the top of my soon to be done list.

Icing can sometimes be more prevalent in mildly warm and VERY humid climes over cold ones. Typically, it's too dry for icing to occur when it's really cold up north here. However, it can happen and that's why all our aircraft have major carb heat, for example. I expect the intake velocity, low cfm putting around and air density at sea level will conspire to ensure this is a one in a million scenario on our cars. Worst case, if it ever did happen, you'd have to shut the car off and let it melt away for a few minutes.

Did water help cool her down?
What made you decide to switch to Front mount? and are you pleased with it? and what kind did you get. Sorry for all the questions but i would think the op would want to know.
thanks

Sorry about thread jacking but what are our BAT's supposed to run at? At idle mine are generally 115 and during acceleration in the 90's.

Makes sense. I haven't seen boost temps below 80 with mine. It was around 60 ambient temp last night. I didn't really watch it this morning much. It was raining, needed to keep my eyes on the road. ******* 50 ambient degrees on my way in.

Damn and i thought the 60's were a little chilly this morning when i walked out, im not ready for the 50's.
