Is anyone in here Spraying?

Chipped 1.8T's with other basic mods run mid 14's. I really don't think you'll see 12's but good luck :) Post a video of your car kickin some ass if you do.

honestly i want to set up a car for auto x more so i am thinking about selling it and geting a civic eg hatch or 240SX and motor swaps...

but if i keep my car, then i will most likely get the turbo swap done and be running 12's anyways, just change the PSI settings when i take it auto crossing

A CRX might be a better choice than an EG hatch because the CRX has a wider wheel base and they're alot cheaper.

How do those VW trannys take that much power? I hear even the 1.8T guys that are chipped need the VR6 clutch or some odd combination so they don't burn the clutch.

right now if i try to get going fast, i can spin my tires through till mid 2nd gear. with LSD that will decrease my launch time lots allowing me to get going faster and higher trap speed
don't count on it dude....seriously. I've owned several LSD equipped cars. Also, just look at the differences between the 03 SRT4 and the 04 SRT4 w/ LSD AND more power. It's only like .2s and the 04 makes more power and torque. Also, the Neon is running 13's stock and I know it had traction problems.

LSD is great in a FWD car for delivering power through a turn. It keeps the inside wheel from sucking up all the power.

I know you can easily run 12's on those 1.8 turbo motors, but I wouldn't expect the lsd to be a big part in getting those numbers. Plan on running a ton more boost and do some serious weight redux. The golf here that runs 11's is gutted and only has a CAI and a boost controller. (that he's told us)

yeah, but in his defense his car was COMPLETELY gutted. nothing but an aluminum race seat and a huge tach. When you pop the hood all you can see is a blue CAI and his MBC. Also, I know he was running the stock exhaust because there was no noise at all. He ran drag radials in the front and baby spares on the rear. He never launched hard. he only rolled out of first and then walked everyone down. VERY IMPRESSIVE

even with a gutted car to that extent and everything, that car would maybe break into the 13's with the MBC. if he was spraying, thats possible, otherwise it isn't just stock. my freind with LSD, chip, lightened fly wheel, upgraded clutch plate, no back seats, no spare, he was running 14.1 and thats really good for his set-up (he should be running into the 13's with that setup in the summer when he learns to drive the new setup better)

CRX's arround here are almost all rusted out. and i EG hatches, i can still find them arround here for less than 100K on the frame. plus you can fit a wider selection of motors into the EG

about the chippingand stuff, you shouldn't have to replace the clutch just because of a chip, if so then it means you don't know how to drive right and you feather the clutch too much....

honestly the VR-6 clutch is just a small upgrade from the 1.8T clutch and i would rather just jump to aftermarket if i were to replace it.

with a chip you need to replace the DV otherwise it will leak

The Golf I saw racing was not using nitrous. If I remember correctly he was running 24+psi. I'm sure he had supporting fuel/ecu mods to accomodate this, but no more. Stock exhaust, stock wheels (except for baby spares in the rear.)

That dude was hhauling ass. It made me think twice about VW after seeing him walk down a TT 'vette.

ok, then he had to have a non stock turbo because the K03 on my car (stock) cant spike over 22PSI with out getting ruined and if it is holding then it would hold at about 16-18... so i think he had a turbo upgrade in there because there is no way he could boost to or hold at 24PSI, and he would need larger injectors, insane fule map (all stand alone)

hmm, I saw no stand-alone. Everything under the hood appeared stock except for the intake.

hese guys work at a local speed shop in B'ham. I'll see if I can track them down.

The 5th gen (EG) swaps use Hydro trannys and make swaps ALOT more expensive. A compete cable B16A1 swap for an EF (crx/4th gen) is $1499 from hmotorsonline. I'm not sure what you mean by the crx can only have a limited amount of motors. There's even a CRX with an H22 creeping around houston....

thanks im intrested...

and replica, im not making a drag car i want to do auto cross so i am looking for a B18C5 motor, still light, and hooks up with the LSD tranny, so i am looking at about 12K to get the whole car race worthy. im not to worried about money, but i don't want a car for drag only..(too borring) but don't get me wrong, still impressive
