iPod USB problem

I am having problem with my iPod USB connection in my 2014 Mazda6 GT. My iPod works with my other cars, but not with the Mazda. I connected the USB cable but for some reason the audio does not receive the USB connection. It's a simple connection so I don't why the USB tab in the audio does not light up to allow me to touch the USB tab to play the iPod. Any suggestions? Thanks!

What type / gen iPod is it?
I just plugged my iPod Classic 160GB (latest gen) into my Mazda 6 (2014), it has about 1600 songs on it. The Mazda took less than 2 minutes to read the songs and all worked (apart for the annoying restart at 1st song after turning the engine off).

Tried a new cable?

+1 on the new cable. I had issues getting my iPod Classic to connect... picked up a heavy duty iPod/PC cable and things worked fine.
