Ipod Intergration w/factory Nav

I *think* what he might be saying: Is that it would be nice to "utilize" that button... tap-into it somehow and MAKE it the toggle between both inputs into the SAT port.

So when you're IN the SAT mode, pressing the Media button swaps you between iPod & Sirius. Obviously... you'd have to physically rewire the switch to do it... I am sure it is technically possible, but the effort and/or cost might not be worth it in the long run.

I don't really know.

The instructions they sent me do not explain how to use the unit with the Navigation Display. They only explain how to use the unit on Non-Nav models...After a phone call to Neo, the customer service person said he would check with the Tech. department on Monday to see if he could send out a correct set of instructions. If one does not exist, I may just make one and post...

Any luck with getting NAV-Specific instructions...? I just received mine and scheduled an installation next Thursday (they are making a custom bracket to hold the DICE cradle where I want it). I would "Prefer" to give them instructions specific to the Nav-Unit.

I have put-in an email request to Neo (about 3-minutes ago) and am crossing-fingers that they have something for me (us) to use.

Any luck on your end...?

Where are you guys running your cable? I'd like to run to my armrest if there is enough cable (bought Grom one, diff then most here) so I can leave in there, or have quick access to Ipod wheel.

I am not sure if I want to bear the cold in my garage to figure out how to get the cable there and cut hole.

Just though about routing to passenger side of radio and come up somewhere in between arm rest and pass seat.

Any thoughts / suggestions?

I am no help to you... because I am having it done professionally. I used to do this kind of stuff in my teens & 20s... but also, dashes were easier to get into back then. Phillips-head screws were visible and accessible - everything wasn't fastened with concealed plastic tabs that could break if you pull the wrong way, etc.

For me, it makes more sense to pay the $150–$200 to have a professional—someone who does this every day, every week and has all the right tools—let THEM deal with all that and make it work. I just show-up... pay them and drive away with a working system. :)

Looking at the cables that ship with the Neo, in order to make it reach your armrest, you'd probably have to conceal the "box" (which is not recommended) within the console tunnel... OR leave it exposed. There is roughly about 16"-24" of cable from SAT-connector to the end that connects to the Neo box... then there's the DATA/Dock cable that also connects to the Neo box and is possibly 24"-30"...? I am guessing since I have not unraveled the cords from the packaging.

The unit is at home - otherwise, I'd upload a photo.

Well I just got mine (Grom) and I do no think the cord is long enough to goto armrest. I also did installs in my early teens (I am 36 now) and I agree its hard to do without screwing up something!

However I have had the radio out already, so I will probably just "rough" install until spring and worry about making it "pretty" later. I just want my darn Ipod working in there, ya know. I am sick of 6 CD's with only 100 songs!!!! I need all of them. You never now when you want to listen to Muscial Youth's "pass the dutchie" - LMAO.

LMAO @ Musical Youth.

I, too, miss being in my old car and hitting "shuffle" on a long (3-or-more hour) drive and randomly being surprised by one of my +4,000 songs/tracks.

After next Thursday, I'll have that ability back again.

Now - if they only knew how to get the VIDEO from the iPhone/iPod to play through... :)

Just got mine this week

I got me neo adptr this week and was strongly considering a self install. I decided to call my installer and ask him what it would cost for a pro to do the job. I got a quote of 60.00 and the work will be done in my driveway, for 60 bucks its just not worth damaging my 7. He will be coming by on Wed to install it for me. I also bought the companion dice cradle from neo for 49 dollars, not quite sure where to mount it though ?? drivers side or passenger side.....thoughts and comments welcome

After holding it in different locations WITH my iPod in it... there's just no room on the left-side of the console (for me). I think they will be installing mine to the right... roughly where the iPod screen is near the lower part of Nav screen. It doesn't interfere with glove-box operation.

My installer is custom fabricating a bracket to hold the DICE cradle exactly where we want it. I am *not* flush-mounting it to a surface. It will be floating a little closer. Will post photos when I have it done.

I have already cancelled my Sirius. And they are crediting me.

Dice Cradle / ipod holder

Not sure where I saw it , on this site of one of the other cx7 sites. Anyway someone had a real slick product that held the ipod. I think it was a dice product however I just dont remember anymore. It was specifically made for the cx7 and looked oem......

If anyone knows or remembers this cradle.....PLEASE post a link - it was black leather and somehow mounted to the glove box so there was never damage to the inside of the car.

thanks

The Kuda

Thanks CX, thats the one I had seen.....Scott should consider this one too. Looks like a very nice set up indeed, I think I will return my dice and get this one for my ride.....

Thanks Again........

You would still need the DICE unit or some other mount/cradle. The product is JUST the mounting surface—it provides a place for you to mount your accessory of choice.

After further review

Scott,

After further review, I realize that I do need both - thanks

I ordered the "K" unit earlier today, if I am going to have integration then let it look nothing less than professional. Total package including all components along with S&H and install will run about 375 or so. A chunk of change, but nothing compared to some of the board members who did the total replacement thing for 3k. It appears that patience has paid off in this case....

Cant wait to get everything up and running

Regards

Was I mistaken, or does it only come in Black...?
I have the tan/beige interior and the black would stick-out like a sore-thumb where it should be installed.

Yeah - I'd "consider" it if ( A ) they had better quality photos to see the fit/finish and ( B ) it came in the beige. But for now, I am TOTALLY psyched for this coming Thursday. Install-Day for my CX-7.

WooooHOOOO!
