Ipod Intergration w/factory Nav

Well I ordered one online this weekend, I will advise after I get it installed.

I am still searching for a decent "mount" for the iPhone before I purchase... but maybe I should just get it first to see if I like it before I go mounting things, eh...? Let me know how it goes for you. Thanks...!!!

Someone from the company located in San Diego called me yesterday to assure me that the unit would be compatible with my set up and that it would be shipping out tomorrow.

Well - that's good news and good customer service.

REQUEST: (If I may) I would LOVE to see what displays on-screen and HOW it displays on-screen once it's connected and playing. Any photos would be appreciated. Thanks.

Now it seems we (hopefully) have found the ipod solution for us with the tech package.

I am not good with car electronics, would my dealer likely be willing to install this neo kit for me?

Also, it appears the neo kit allows for an external satelite unit since it has an extra aux input besides the ipod connector.

I just ordered my connecter and cradle. Now I just need to find a mounting bracket and a shop to install it all. :)

THAT ROCKS...!!! It also answers my question re: the interface being a conduit for the data being passed-through. I am glad to see this. I was worried it might just display a black screen with white text or something.

Thanks for the screenshot. Now I cannot WAIT to receive mine and get the parts installed. It may be a year-and-a-half wait, but I'm VERY glad to finally get a feasible iPod solution for this car.

WoooHOOOO!!!

I just installed the Neo Prolink PODMAZ-R2V1 in My Mazda CX-7 with the Tech and Bose Package. The install was very easy. Just one plug into the Sat port in the back of the radio, plug the Ipod cable into the unit and place the unit where it can easily be accessed (Glove box works). Once I turned on the radio and hit the Sat button, the radio tried to update the SAT channels. I just programmed the presets to 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 as instructed and it stopped trying to update channels. That was it. It sounds awesome, just like a CD. By choosing each preset, you can choose to scroll through, tracks, playlist, albums, etc. You can also switch between the Ipod connection and the additional Aux port provided.
You maintain FULL CONTROL of your ipod. It is not locked out. The steering wheel track control works as a preset advance, not a track advance. You can advance tracks by using the track advance button on the radio. I would suggest organizing the music on the Ipod into playlist. It may make it easier to navigate through your music. I will re-post when I have a spent more time with the unit and have learned all of it's functionality. I purchased the unit directly from Neo Car Audio in San Diego, Ca. They were extremely helpful and courteous. The unit cost $179.00.
After much frustration with FM Transmitters and zero desire from Mazda to fix the problems, it is worth EVERY penny! Thanks again aftermarket community!

QUESTION: If I you to go to the TOP-LEVEL menu of the iPod and hit "Shuffle Songs" (which randomizes from the entire library) and THEN you used the "track advance" controls from the steering-wheel... what happens...?

I almost NEVER go to playlists. I LOVE having it pull random tracks from over 4k entries. It's my preferred form of listening. :)

Now I cannot wait for mine to arrive.

Okay - I guess when I think about how it'd work if it WERE Sirius... it makes sense that hitting the steering-wheel control moves to the next "preset station"... which corresponds to menu items on the iPod... I see now why it won't work. We're basically "tricking" the stereo. Nevermind. It's STILL a great solution.!!!

Neo Ipod adapter Shuffling Songs

After reading the instructions closer and a little test, you can advance single tracks from the steering wheel track advance button. All you have to do is select preset "1" which is "Track", then the music will start playing. If you have your Ipod setup to shuffle songs in the setting or you can just choose the shuffle songs in the main menu. Instead of using the track advance button as usual, you need to ad a slight pause when pressing the switch. You will notice the "ch10" in the upper right corner of the
display will change to "ch11" wich is the next song. At first I was fumbling, but after a little practice, I got the feel of it. I verified on my ipod that is was shuffling songs from different albums, artists and all. If you pause too long during the advance, it will skip a few songs ahead. You will notice that you will go from "ch10" to "ch13" or so. The instructions they sent me do not explain how to use the unit with the Navigation Display. They only explain how to use the unit on Non-Nav models. This concerned me greatly when I first received the unit. After a phone call to Neo, they customer service person said he would check with the Tech. department on Monday to see if he could send out a correct set of instructions. If one does not exist, I may just make one and post. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

As you mentioned yourself - you do *NOT* have the NavUnit.

The NeoPod-unit is the *FIRST* (that I know of) that is confirmed to work with the Mazda integrated Nav HU. There are LOTS of solutions that work with non-nav Mazda stereos.

It doesn't say that it displays text, or has AUX-in capability, but it does connect the iPod and if that's all you want to do, go for it, it should operate better than the Mazda unit, which is a total POS.

If you want text/AUX/+iPod on a Bose H/U the Neo is the only way to go.

Thanks guys.

I have an email into Grom, I have noticed theirs does not say if you can control the Ipod via Ipod, in which the one discussed here clearly states it can and does NOT lock out Ipod.

This might have been covered already, but what about the Dice unit?

It actually looks just like the Neo and even has the R1 R2 designations, however it is 20 bucks cheaper. From what I see it has the same specs and similar description. Might be worth looking into.

I know it's only exciting to *me*... but the status of the UPS tracking says that my Neo is "Out for Delivery" and should be arriving today. Really looking-forward to FINALLY getting iPod physical connectivity in this car.

WooHOOOO...! :)

What kinds of options out there are for people that WANT to keep their Sirius AND have their Ipods hooked up??? I don't want some switch in the glovebox that I have to keep switching back and forth. We have a freakin' Media button on our Radio's for a reason. We should somehow be able to tap into that button. I don't want to have to choose between my Sirius and my Ipod. Any solutions for that??
