I had the ipod integration module installed on my 2009 GT w/ nav this morning by the dealer. Overall I'm pleased with the result. The nav unit in 2009 models is different than in older models and the functionality is clearly better.
My aux port and sat audio work fine after the ipod module install. The total install cost for me after parts and labor was around $320.
I can already see some ways to improve the interface. I think ultimately the best way to play music will be using defined playlists. If you have 1000's of songs on your ipod it will be a pain to sift through long lists for a specific song using the nav interface. Personally I usually just pick an album or music genre and set my ipod to shuffle mode.
Here are some pictures of the ipod integration functionality.
The ipod link is now enabled in the nav once the ipod is connected.
Here's what the nav screen displays while a song is playing.
when you touch the "music" button you can select from songs, artists, playlists,
genres, podcasts, etc. Nice.
For example, here is a list of playlists.
One weakness in the interface is selecting from a long list of items such as artists. It would have been smarter to include an a-z index rather than paging through long lists.
Here's what the dash information display looks like while an ipod song is playing. Note that the engine wasn't running when I took this pic.
Here is a song playing while "shuffle" mode is turned on. This is probably useful if you don't have a defined playlist and just want to hear random tracks.
You can control the track selection via your steering wheel controls. Here is what you see when you change tracks or a new track starts playing while in map mode. As you can see the information isn't very useful.
The ipod connection cable is located in the glove compartment.
