iPod Connection

I recently purchased an FM transmitter for my iPod, and it isn't working out all that well. I was wondering if anyone knows of an iPod connection that is not played using the radio. There are some products out there that I am looking at. One of the better ones that I have found is made by Peripheral; however I am not sure if this system will hook up to the aftermarket Kenwood deck that is stock in the MSP's. Does anyone have one of these systems hooked up to their Kenwood deck and/or is there a system made strictly for the Kenwood deck in the MSP's?

I must also recommend a belkin car charger for the iPod. They are great because it turns the ipod on with the car, charges it, and provides a line-out jack right at the 12v plug for a nice clean installation. Plus, that way you are using a true line-out from the iPod rather than the amplified headphone jack.

ya that aux cable works great. however, some devices still sound like s*** with that cable. like there's no static or anything like that, it just sounds like it needs a lot of equalization.

Using the headphone jack on the device or a true unamplified line-out?

I run fully flat EQs on all my audio equipment, I guess I'm just a purist? (ughdance)

This might be a stupid question... As for an iPod connection, do you know if you can buy another cable to connect from that cable to the iPod, because that cable will not work with an iPod.

Yeah radio shack has what you need. It's a simple adapter that goes from the headphone jack of the ipod and splits out to the two RCA connectors on the aux-in.

Yup, that's called a "Y cable".

Right on. I am guessing that won't charge the iPod at the same time though right?

No, but belkin makes a cheap charger cable that plugs into the dock connector, and then you have the added convenience of not needing to plug the audio cable in, as it is carried through the dock connector. Right near the 12v power plug where the charger cable plugs in it has the line-out port.

You can buy a knock off cable just like the official Kenwood one off of eBay. Good to know if you want to save $12.

Or you could just buy a head unit that controls an IPOD through a cable with full head unit menu integration to find your music, so you dont have to mess with your IPOD while youre driving, its all in the head unit.

Alpine has some cheap ones that sound pretty good.

The problem with this is that it is easier to find music on your iPod than it is to scroll with most head units, unless you have one with a touch screen. I just use the AUX port with a stereo cable to my MP3 player. Or you could do like me and get a Kenwood head with a USB port and attach a hard drive.

Regardless of what you chose, anything hardwired will sound better than the FM transmitters. They suck donkey balls!

Well, I have an Eclipse CD5000 and the ipod controller, and its easy to find music. It isnt as fast as scroll wheel, but I like that I put my Ipod in the glove box and lock it, and Im good to go.

It plugs directly into the stock Kenwood Deck - i've got mine daisy-chained through the Sirius raido unit. Although browsing through the deck is a PITA, it works and keeps everything in a nice central location. You can have the wire strung into the console between the driver/passenger seats with the iPood safely resting in there.

if the deck has an aux input use that.. otherwise you can use a wired fm modulator about 39.99 and some ant. adapters ~19.99 and it'll get wired directly into your fm ant. signal.. just a thought

i dont know if anyone already posted this but there is an ipod adaptor for most CD players you can get from best buy, ebay, etc. anyway it lets you control the ipod using the CD player so you can leave the ipod in the glove box. I have a pioneer DEH model and it works and is pretty bad ass.
