iPhone workaround for bluetooth on 2014 radio

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to let you all know of a workaround I came up with that allows you to shuffle via Bluetooth.

I use an iPhone 4 with a app called Muxica instead of the builtin iPhone music app. It gives you about the same functionality of the regular music app, plus the added bonus of being able to crossfade songs

The only thing you have to do is start the song via the Muxica app by tapping the iPhone screen, and then you can put the phone in the center console. There is a shuffle option in the queue (similar to a playlist you would create on the fly in the regular music app). Now when you are playing the tracks in your queue they will be shuffled, and you can skip to the next track using the next and previous buttons on the radio or steeling wheel controls

If you receive a call or switch sources, you will need to open the app on the iPhone and tap the screen to start music playback again, the play button on the radio will not work. The only other downside is you have to use Bluetooth so you can't use the Centerpoint system

Thanks for this! Works great. I don't see a way to delete individual tracks from an imported playlist in the Muxica queue. I think you have to delete within the Playlist. Also, Normalization is set to ON by default in Muxica. I recommend turning that off.

jlcpremier, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for suggesting Muxica. It solves the problem!!! I was disappointed when iOS7 didn't fix it. Then I bought the well-reviewed CarTunes ($4.99) but the problem remained, so I guessed that apps must use the AVRCP profiles to shuffle and therefore were at the mercy of the Apple/Mazda AVRCP 1.3/1.4 mis-implementation. But Muxica ($1.99) apparently uses its own code to shuffle, so it works over Bluetooth. I'm so happy!

Since posting this, I've switched to a different app. I now use LouderLogic which is even better than Muxica. The only feature Muxica has that was kinda cool was the smart crossfading, but in LouderLogic, you can set the length of the crossfade, and most importantly, it gives you a full parametric EQ band with 4 points of adjustment, since the EQ on the radio is pretty lame. Prev and Next track steering wheel controls work fine over bluetooth, and the other nice thing is that if you get a call or make a call, the app/music pick up right where you left off. Also if the app is running in the background on your phone, most times when I start the car, it will automatically play from where it last left off, without even having to open the app. Louder Logic also has a sound processing enhancement called ALX which to me sounds awesome in the CX-5. Definitely worth checking out!
