Hi there, I linked my iPhone with my radio's blue tooth, but it shows up as "unknown". Is there any way I can get it to say iPhone? Thanks

Did you name your iPhone in iTunes? My display says the name I gave the phone in iTunes.

On the iPhone, if you go to Settings | General | About, it should display the phones name (at least it does in iOS5). In iOS5, you can also rename the phone there too from "unknown" to whatever name you want.

The name is in there and other radio's have picked it up, just not this one. I will try to rename and save my phone and see if that makes a difference. I am using iOS5, but the phone was named before that upgrade. I hope this works. Thanks

Keep in mind that the Mazda head units will choke on apostophes and other punctuation. For instance I used a ""s" and the head unit ended up listing the name as "unknown"

My iPhone name is "Purpleorchid's iPhone"...but of course, my real name is in place of my tag. The Mazda display shows "Purpleorchid*s iPhone"...or some other symbol that it replaced the apostrophe with. I can't remember if it's an asterisk or something else...but it definitely doesn't say "unknown"

It was the apostrophe! I removed it and the car recognized my phone right away. Thanks for the help!

You're welcome. Purpleorchid not sure why yours is different. Which head unit do you have?

Not sure of the exact head unit, but it's a 2012 w/ NAV + Rear backup camera that display in the screen. I forgot to look at what symbol it replaces the apostrophe with this morning.

Is anyone having issues with playback between bt and iphone4s w/os5.1? Mine starts skipping and static...I have to stop the song and start it again to resolve...

SUBJECT: Mazda Service Program MSP30
2010-2011MY Mazda3, 2010 Mazda6, 2010 CX-7, 2010 CX-9
Bluetooth Hands-Free Inoperative
Mazda Motor Corporation has decided to conduct a Mazda Service Program (MSP) on certain 2010-
2011MY Mazda3, 2010 Mazda6, 2010 CX-7 and 2010 CX-9 vehicles, equipped with Bluetooth Hands-
Free Phone System, and produced from June 18, 2010 through July 16, 2010.
On certain Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-7 and CX-9 vehicles, it is possible that the Talk, Pick-Up and Hang-Up
buttons may not function.
Please perform MSP30 on all applicable vehicles in dealer inventory and when owners bring their vehicles in
for regularly scheduled maintenance or other service work. Please explain to the customer that the Bluetooth
Hands-Free module will be inspected and if necessary replaced free of charge.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please remind your Service Consultants to run a Warranty Vehicle Inquiry using
eMDCS for every vehicle that comes through your service drive. This report will indicate if the vehicle is
applicable to MSP30 as well as any other open Service Campaign or Recall.
A Mazda Service Program (MSP) is similar to a Special Service Program (SSP) and is designed to improve
customer satisfaction and reduce customer inconvenience; however, MSPs are limited to correcting minor
issues that do not substantially affect vehicle durability, reliability, or performance. Like a Recall or SSP,
eMDCS will display MSP30 when performing an eMDCS Warranty Vehicle Inquiry on an applicable vehicle.
The eMDCS system will also display OPEN if the repair has not been performed, or CLOSED if it has
been performed. By clicking on the blue MSP30, eMDCS will hyperlink to Service Bulletin 09-038/10 which
provides repair procedures and warranty claim submission information. Additionally, you can find this Bulletin
on the MS3 Website. We have also enclosed a copy of this Bulletin for your convenience.
Warranty claims for MSP30 will be accepted during the affected vehicles New Vehicle Limited Warranty
(NVLW) term of 36 month and 36,000 miles. Afterwards a DSM authorization is required.

I have a 2012 Mazda CX9 and an iPhone 4S. I have an issue with the uploading the phone book from the iPhone to the Mazda. Two things happen. One is all of the contacts that are uploaded are loaded in duplicate. In other words, there are two of each contact. The other issue is that some of the iPhone contacts are not uploaded to the Mazda at all. I have no idea why either of these things are happening. I have tried deleting and reloading the phonebook 4 or 5 times and the same things happens each time. Mazda Handsfree Customer Service has no idea what the problem might be. Has anyone encountered a problem like this or can you suggest a solution?
