Well, as some may know I am looking to get a MSP. For those that never payed attention or are looking themselves, let me tell you something interesting I have been doing the last week.
History:
First quote I ever received was $373/month
Next quote I received from another dealer was $398/month
So that killed my desire as I refuse to pay that amount for a $19K car(rebates)
Then I got bored and stopped at another dealer and was quoted $273/month. Much better but had a quote for a RSX Type-S for $265.
Last night went and dealt with the $373/month dealer and he said $279/month + lifetime oil changes on the MSP. Not bad, but I know I can do better. I am stingy when buying a car, if it isn't apparent already!
So we talked more and I brought up the Austin dealer, $16500. He cringed and said he has no clue how he is doing it but if true he will match it. He said any deal you get from any other dealer in the country, he will match to get my business.
Heh. So I took the day off and played around.
Dealer in Wooster, OH (I am in Detroit area btw) emailed me and we talked. I told him the current offer on the MSP and RSX and that I was looking for more of a $250-$260/MONTH deal.
As I was leaving he called and left a message saying he could make a deal that fits in my range no problem. Just needed more info.
So basically, my long drawn out point is, dealers want to sell these, see what you can get. Seems to me smaller towns with larger inventories are more apt to make outrageous deals to get them off the lot. It might be wise to try and play this game and like myself, save around what?...$139/month. That is a big difference.
For fun, bring up the flash issue. Funny to hear them try and talk about it. Not one so far has any clue and tried to feed me a line of BS till I brough up the actual reason for needing the flash. Then all said they would do it to the car before delivery. =)
This has been fun. I love wheeling and dealing.
