intercooler pipping

I dont know if this topic has been talked about much but ive talked to a friend of mine that is pretty smart about turbos but mainly just civics so i wanted to get ur advice. He is saying that a good upgrade and maybe more performance than a larger tmic is to just start with upgraded pipping to and from the intercooler (not sure what he said, think aluminum/metal) and this will have an increase on the flow over the stock plastic fitting. I know hes a smart guy and can prove that this has been a great increase on other cars but like i said hes a honda guy. Is the stock pipping on the ms3 flowing as good as it can? is there improvement that can be had there?

Also my other friend has a wrx and one mod that is common is the pipe between the cai and the engine which i havent looked at our car yet and not sure if thats even an option for our car but i know the wrx has an attachment from where the cai ends and connects to the engine

It's hardpipes he's talking about, su makes some stronger polysomthing hoses but I've heard that they're really short and don't give that much so it's not a real big improvement. Not sure about the use of metal though, it would probly get really hot and not be efficient I would think.

i see that the pipping stock is ribbed on the outside but im sure its smooth with equal diameter the whole way through on the inside right?

Im sure aluminum would be better then plastic or rubber. The aluminum should stay much cooler and not hold in all that heat.Im not sure what our car has.

with a top mount intercooler your piping runs are so short that at factory pressure i doubt you would see much of an increase with new tubing.

I agree, you cant do anything with the front as far as new piping, and the back peice is only about 6inchs long. Samco has an upgrade but I think it would just be for looks. The only thing I could see doing is taking off front pipe that bolts onto the intercooler and seeing if theres any extra metal in the pipes opening way then port that out.
