Integrated Pandora

I've been watching the Mazda6 discussions closely out online and it seems it is absolutely going to have integrated Pandora (and other apps), which I LOVED on my rental Camaro this last week.

Going back to the CX-5 pre-release discussions, it seems that the CX-5 was speculated to have launched with integrated text messaging, Pandora, etc.

I'm curious if this confirms some of the banter about the CX-5 media unit being rushed to market???

Everything at this point says the "Pandora" equipped units will be in dealerships this fall.

At this point I'm curious if they are the same unit they we have with updated software? New unit altogether?

This could be a great update if they make it available to us early adopters (which I'm not holding my breath).

Thoughts? Speculation?

From what I've read of cars that have pandora (and other apps) included, they need to access your smart phone, since the car does not have internet connectivity.

So if you need a smart phone to use the app anyway, just use your phone via bluetooth and voila; you're already there. My wife and I both have our iPhones synced to the car, and as soon as we get in, pandora is paying. No need to touch a button at all.

You are correct - Pandora (onboard a smartphone) has an underlying "accessory" layer written into it, which "devices" can access while hard-wired or connected via bluetooth. The GM technology works via bluetooth, which was brilliant!

Whereas I would totally agree and be content with just managing Pandora via the phone, having it part of the car, thus eliminating the need to pick up my phone was a GREAT feature! Admittedly every time I grab the phone to "thumb up" a song, I'm more than tempted to check texts, etc. - Call it a safety feature, helping me to break a terrible habit!

With the current system you can play/pause and skip songs in Pandora via the screen or the steering wheel buttons. The only thing that you can't do is change stations/artists.

BTW somebody knows how to make the iphone not play music as soon as is connected via bluetooth or usb?
