Intake question?

ebay bad

like everyone else on the forums we highly reccomend staying away from ebay when buying parts. especailly for your motor. do what i did, just buy the parts put em on ur car then dont say anything. how often does ur mom look under ur hood? $15???? u get what u pay for. keep that in mind. i have a HP cold air intake and to be honest i hate it. I took it off about a month ago to clean it and i noticed a HUGE hole in the side from where it was rubbing one of my cylanoids. the fitment on the HP intake it crap. AEM is always a safe choice. cold air is gonna give better performance. short ram is jus gonna suck in hot air. i found if u explain to ur parents the benefits of an intake they are more comfortable with it. just tell them it makes ur car more efficient and last longer. (maybe a day or two longer but it will last longer)

it is all on mounting intakes. Wrong, will rub. Yes, most ebay turbonator "chip", etc stuff is crap. But when you have a simple metal tube with a filter. I have seen AEM's intake, and it looks like the same quality of my ebay intake. Of course, with my K&N filter, it was pwning the filter it had.

If you want to sell your ebay CAI, post it up. They are not sold there anymore, only SRIs are.

an ebay intake will still do the job dont get me wrong. but you get the performance from the flow characteristics. if it has bad flow characteristics you will choke ur motor or only get 1-2 hp instead of 5-7

Show me dyno slips of an AEM or Injen alone adding 5-7 HP on our little cars, and 1-2 HP with an ebay intake on the same car. I don't recall dyno sheets to prove any case.

In comparing the AEM SRI with my ebay, they flow nearly identical, and there were no burrs or anything inside the ebay intake.

Bottom line, intakes have been discussed to death, but I don't recall dyno sheets.

i dont have any dyno sheets and i was just using 5-7hp as a random number. i know a few people that have had ebay intakes and were crappy. all im sayin is its ebay be careful. im going off what ive seen and heard, not experienced.

02PROTEGE2.0 I ask you only once. Watch your language please. Here at msprotege.com forums, we have ZERO tolerance for people with big mouth. I wont ask you twice.

and yea this thread IS like the noob air intake thread. Every single new person just asks questions instead 1st searching. For the past month or two I saw alot of threads about THIS SAME TOPIC. Its frustrating to type SAME thing over and over again. and when we greet new person on the forums and ask them politely to use search feature here and cant find an answer THEN ask, people all of a sudden get on a defensive side. Not good.

These forums are FULL of info, ESPECIALLY on SRI's and CAI's.

So please 02PROTEGE2.0 I ask you politely. Please watch your language, or certain actions will be taken.

I thought we had this resolved few minutes ago.....
He asked to look at the intake, then he asked the difference between an SRI and CAI, which could be looked up by doing a search here. There was no problem from the start in the 1st post.

The reason why he called this thread a NEWB thread is because there is an INCREDIBLE amount of threads about THIS SAME THING in the past month or two. People need to SEARCH 1st THEN ask questions. And dont get on a defensive side because we're pointing out the obvious.

Just because he has 2nd gen. Pro it doesn't restrict him from posting in other sections.
I asked you nicely. Now, either you stop this s***, or we will make you stop.

I have had an ebay SRI with a K&N for over 3 years. Never had a problem at all. With your vast experiences with intakes to back up your comment on the ebay intake, what are you using for an intake and filter, and how have you established a problem with the ebay intakes?

an intake is an intake, I dont believe for one second a injen, AEM or anything else will make any more power than one you make yourself or get from ebay

haha ok im seriosuly done ater this... this si a dumb arguement... all im saying... si hes calling peoplenewbs because thye ahve a problem with there ebay intake etc. and he has an ebay intake... maybe that doesnt make alot of since to u it just made me laugh. i have an ebay intake... dotn get me rong.. i just thot thats why he was calling him ou or w/e hes doing...

secondly, the reason i said he has a second gen is because since he posted this is a 3rd gen section hes obviously LOOKING TO MAKE TROUBLE and looking to PUT SOME ONE DOWN.

im no angel... btu come on? what are u doing in the third gen section "intake question?". not looking for advice... especially if ur going to nay-say...

so just leave the poor kid alone... i mean he doesnt even have a reason for being in here if its nothing he'll use anyways... he can look... btu why be a jerk to someone just trying to figure it out.

im nto trying to cause trouble... i just thnk theres no reason to be a jerk to someone who is trying to learn...

"there are no dumb questions... your only dumb... if u dont ask them."

i will now permanently exit this thread.

thank goodness, I had a hard time reading that whole thing..........

Basically, long story short......just do a search for "3rd generation intakes" or even just "intakes" and you'll find more than you'll ever need. I believe one even had dyno sheets of a couple and the ebay ones were just as good. I don't remember the brand of ebay specifically but I'm sure you could find it easily enough just by searching "ebay intake". Some people just have troubles putting something no-name on their car and would rather spend a little extra for the comfort of a name and the exact fitment that comes with what you pay for. I promise people aren't usually this whiny on the boards, it's just a touchy question to ask. Good luck with your search!

ONCE AGAIN! I repeat myself. The reason why he said NOOB thread, IS BECAUSE THIS QUESTION HAS BEEN ASKED MILLION TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH BY AT LEAST 10 DIFFERENT NEW PEOPLE!!! UTILIZE SEARCH BUTTON/FEATURE ON THESE FORUMS!!! IF CANT FIND AN ANSWER THEN ASK!!!
You gotta pay attention to some of the replies

Asumption is a mother of ALL **** ups. You asumed that he wants to start trouble. Wait a second! You're new here! How would you know?!?!!?!? DONT ASUME!

thats none of your business! People with other mazda's (different versions of Protege's, Miata's, rotary mazda's) give advises to people with other Mazda's. How do you know if they know their s*** or not?? Maybe they work at the dealer, or maybe they run their own business that deals with ALL models of Mazda's. DONT ******* ASUME! Thread starter can say something on his/her own. Obviously HERE no one was targeted. No one needs to hear YOUR loud obnoxious comments either!!! Keep that kind of s*** to yourself or YOU WILL GET YOURSELF BANNED!

If you're not trying to cause problems then don't call people names. FOR THE 100th TIME! 98b/w pro DID NOT target anyone with his comment!

Don't asume that others just trying to start a fight...in the end it would be you, who stirs up the s***.

CONVERSATION OVER!

fishdonotbounce, Im sorry that your thread went to s*** and I know you're new here as well. But next time use the search feature (wink). You'll be amazed how much info you can find that way. On the other hand, if you can't find the answer that way, then let the questions come out. Hope you'll decide on what you want and get to the modding (thumb)
