INtake help

(chair)Hi, need a little help from you guys. I want to get a Cold air INtake but is a little worry about it sucking in water. what things do i need to buy to prevent it from sucking alot of water or causing engine lock. I heard of using hydro shield, but is it really worth the time buying it. I live in NC and it rains hard. sometimes

and yea. what brand should i get? injen or fujita?

had. some thots on cobbs SRI too.(dark)

I did tons of research on hydro locking with a CAI and trust me, unless you are actually submerging the intake in water you should be fine. As far as brand names go I bought the Mazdaspeed CAI and have been very happy with it. Car pulls much harder than it did before with it on.

i have the MS CAI and have had no problems with it at all...i cant say much for Cobb but i know they put out quality products and wouldnt release anything that was an excellent product...hope that helps!

cobb intake

hey. i read a lil on the other tread and someone mention that sri dont give any power and if they do its not notice. i wonder how the cobb intake would sound like. anysound clip?

and on the cai, what if its raining really hard. would that cause any problem? does differnt brand intake sound differnt? anyone have any sound clip?

i think they pretty much have about the same sound...like i said im not sure on the performance of the SRI but i know it has been raining hard and nonstop for the past 2 days and i have been driving and hitting puddles and no problem...like it was said before you would have to submerge the filter so be be in about over 6" of water.

if you want to see how CAI vs SRI power comes out on the dyno, read this thread by driver311: http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123692556

basically, they both give about the same power gains. the SRI is susceptible to heat soaking when you are stopped at stoplights, but that quickly goes away as soon as you start moving. in exchange, the SRI is a lot easier to maintain and install. it also allows you to hear the turbo spool and BPV hiss better.

cobb certainly puts out quality products so if you want the extra insurance then get that, but also the mazdaspeed CAI comes with a hydrosheild and is placed in a spot that is fairly protected. plus its from the cars manufacturer so you know its legit

hey. thanks for all the Help. from reading all thread, and the dyno test, i like the cobb sri more. probally ordering mine tomorow. where is a good place for fast shiping and cheap?

Cobb for sure!!! Mine has been on a week and there is noticable gains. Now if I can just get my foot outta the floor, I might be able to contribute to the end of Global Warming!
