Insurance Rates

I'm wondering what everyone is paying for insurance on the car. I'm also wondering if there is a big difference between American insurance rates and Canadian rates. So, I guess I'll start.

Vehicle: 2007 Mazdaspeed3
Age: 26
Coverage: Collision, comprehensive, and personal liability ($1,000,000), primary driver.
Cost: $1650 a year (although I've been with the same company for years, and I get a discount because of where I'm employed - I've been quoted as much as $2800 a year)

Huh, I was just thinking today that I need to call around. I am 32 with a cristal clean driving record. No tickets, accidents...nadda. I pay $1680/year for the full coverage deal with a $500 deductable on collision. I have had the same company since I was 17 and took out my own policy. I know people my same age with a few smudges on thier records that pay what I pay.

Vehicle: 2007 Mazdaspeed3
Age: 22
Coverage: Collision 1000 (im a painter im not turning anything in), comprehensive 250 , and personal liability, primary driver.
Cost: $1248 a year.... state farm

Does anyone else have Allstate?

Thats what I have and I recently got a quote on an MS3 at ~$2,100 a year.

... Granted I'm only 18, and have 2 tickets on my record. annnnd kind of sort of totaled my last car by accident (one of the tickets) haha

but still... that seems a bit ridiculous anyways... especially since I took a drivers ed course, have good grades, and have been with them for 3 years.

I wish I had that "First Accident Forgiveness" deal... that would have been nice.

Anyways... I'm going to look at quotes from other companies soon depending on the responses in this thread.

Erie, been a customer 10 years or more, have 4 other vehicles and my house insured with them. I'm paying $672 a year with full coverage and $500 deductible on collision. The MS3 is listed as a pleasure vehicle, up to 8,500 miles annually.

I'm male, 36, clean driving record.

WHAAAT thats a good for being 18 with tickets..
Im 19 clean record since 17, have always had my own insurance and i pay over 3 grand a year.

Asking what everyone is paying for insurance is like asking what everyone is sleeping with at night... WAAAYYY too many variables in the equation - Marital Status, Location, Driving Record, Age, Insurance Co, Mileage, Number of Cars, Policy Limits... its fine if yer curious but if your looking to compare ya best try and narrow some of the options down...

WOW I feel sorry for alot of you guys im only 23 and pay $500 a year full coverage..my insurance actully went down from a normal 3 to the speed 3.

WTF?

I've got my Speed3 with the cheapest insurance possible (liability only with lowest coverages, highest deductible possible, all services declined) WITH uninsured motorist (which I think is ~$70 of my bill) AND my '93 Ford Ranger is on there too. I'm paying $540 for 6 months.

Cheapest insurance possible (plus uninsured motorist, ~$70) on the Ranger alone: $395 for 6 months.

I'm 26, male, with a perfectly clear driving record for the last 9 years.

My only explanation is that I've had several lapses in coverage.

I noticed you live in Daytona.... try FL No Fault.... you can find them in the yellow pages.... they might be cheaper than your 3 grand per year.

your insurance would have gone down from a normal 3 to a speed3 tells me 2 things.

the speed 3 had a better than the 3 star rating given to the normal 3

and that your insurance company probably doesn't know what the speed3 is capable of.

Alas I have a question for a lot of you. Does your insurance show up as "mazdaspeed3" or only "mazda3" ?

Reason I ask is because my insurance does not register a "mazdaspeed6" as a selectable car option, though they do have mazda6. My insurance is State Farm. That being said my insurance shows my car as a "Mazda6" though they have my VIN and all. I can't but wonder if my rates would go up if they new what kind of car I was really packing?

I find that very questionable... 23 yrs old + brand new car....? Yeah, right... I might have to call...:bs:

Yep, thats what happened with the SRT-4 Neons... At first they were cheap, same as regular Neons...then a bunch of dumb ass teenagers started crashing and rates went sky high!!!!

I expect the same to happen with the MS3s....unfortunately...

33 married, 497.11 every 6 mos. 500,000/1M liability, 100k property damage, 500 on both deds.

I have a 325i that's HALF that price. I also have some performance awards as given by local constables. This is with my multi vehicle discount and with a home owner's policy discount through USAA.

Happy and Angry -

Im in the same boat, almost the same age I live in Ottawa and I have a speed3 and I pay 1480 with Bel-air.

I also have USAA and insure my apartment and another car through them (as well have other accounts). So after the discounts for multiple accounts through them, I'm 25 with 3 old accidents (about 2 years ago, and two 3 years ago), married, and pay about $800 a year for full coverage with $500 deductables. And only $400 a year for another new vehicle.

That's very good. Maybe that means age can be more important than tickets.

Are you sure they know it's a Speed3? Who is your insurance company?
