Installed Shaundarbie's Jspec shift boot

Just put mine in today, very pleased with it. Love the look and the I just used a glue gun to glue the spacer back onto the new shift boot, stuck well and looks great. I'll have to post some pics tomorrow.

I just replaced mine this week too. I got the vinyl, because I don't like the shiny look of leather. The quality is excellent and Shaun was very helpful. I used the a glue gun as Shaun suggested, and it looks perfect. It's a great improvement over the stock one. Thanks again Shaun!

i have the same knob, its the greddy counterweight knob, you can also get them from www.optauto.com, like 32 bucks before shipping there...

i love mine, it definitly makes a difference in shifting, it just seems to carry itself into the next gear, not much effort involved at all... and good thinking ryoga with the rubber band, i've just been letting my shift boot sag down to the stock perch, how well does it really hold tho? i'll have to try it...

JHew84: The rubber band holds very will and I actually got this idea for another board member awhile ago.

N20Inferno: It is threaded. When ordering it, make sure you're getting the one that is threaded for the mazda shifters.

RIght now, I'm using Team Voodoo's Magnum shift knob in a pearl finish. My gf hates it. She actually likes the 03.5 msp knob and the greddy counter weight knob more than my current knob.

ya, voodoo knobs are nice, they make driving fun, but they are really weird looking, i dont think i'd ever use one, but they are nice knobs, definitly can't dispute that...

and ya, the greddy just threads right on, and i LOVE the way it looks/feels, i'll have to try that rubber band idea out the next time i'm over at the garage warming the protege up, the more i think about it the more i feel like an idiot for not thinking of something like that myself haha...

The rubber band works great...I actually got the idea from you guys. I'm running the stock MSP shifter in my 626 with a Mazda 6 leather knob, which is shorter than the MSP knob. So I used the rubber band trick and it looks NICE.
