Installed Carbon Fiber Hood on my Yellow 3

yeah that price is great.

i never got a response to my question though.
whats the weight difference with the stock and if you feel any rattles when going fast.

The weight is usually half the weight of a stock hood unless it is aluminum like on the Subies. Anything rattles if you go fast enough. But if you want to know at 110 if the hood starts to vibrate so much that you can see it, mine doesnt.

Does anybody know if the 2004 hoods fit the 2005 Mazda 3? I've been looking for carbon fiber hoods and can only find them for the 2004 3. I assume that since many parts are compatible between 2004 and 2005 that the hoods will be too, but I just want to be sure before ordering a $370 cf hood I've been looking at.

04 and o5 are the same.. the diffrence is between the hatch and sedan. Make sure you get the right one.

You may want to pin it at some point.

Most CF hoods I've seen flex a bit, both front to back and side to side, sp once you get to 95mph and see the hood try to come up, you'll for sure want to have that thing secured.

Enough flex and it may pop the hook loose from the catch. Understand thats a Honda problem, so it may not be true for the 3.

Sorry- havent been on in a while.

The grille is an erebuni grille which I will be selling soon.

The hood does not rattle and I have not needed to add hood pins.

Thanks for all the comments.

Your car looks great! Im not trying to bash but at $99 do you think they used quality resins so you wont be buying another hood 6 months to year down the road?

I have the same hood.. took it off last week. didnt care for the look and the turbo cooked it to the point i was worried about toxic fumes. I might stick a hood scoop on it for shitz and giggles.

I had the same problem when I purchased a hood for my srt, It looked great as you can see....

But a month or so later I ended up taking the hood back to the shop to get my money back because small air bubbles formed from all the heat produced by the turbo. The money ended up going towards a new wastegate a much better mod imo :) oh and I got my hood for 300 even. Most grade A hoods for 400 and up, correct me if im wrong....

becareful too... so hoods look really nice when u first get them (ViS for example) and wait about a year or so and the clear coat turns yellow and worse yet, gets really hazy and really bad looking. at the first sign of discoloration, i suggest get a new one or get it re-clearcoated :) just speaking from experience

peace
