Installation Cost

2009 Mazda Mazdaspeed3
I just got my '09 Mazdaspeed3 GT a few days back and just took it to a shop to get an estimate on some goodies I want in my car. For a HKS SSQV BOV, HKS turbo timer (type-0), HKS cat-back (can't seem to remember which one), and HKS intake (again, can't remember which), he charged $1,519. For installation, he said it'll take 2 days-ish and charged a flat $300. Did I get it cheap, ripped off, or just right? Haven't paid for nothing yet, mind you, in case you wanna flame me >_>".

I say do it yourself, The hardest thing I think is the wiring for the turbo timer. The bpv and exhaust shouldn't be that hard. I can't wait to get the hks cbe

$300 is fair I guess, but it shouldnt take 2 days....maybe tops 2-3 hours with lunch in there

...2-3 hours, for reals??? Only 2-3??? He said 1.5-2 DAYS!!! Is he just saying that so he can take his sweet freaking time???

Yes. I don't think it takes 2 days, but I'd rather have a professional install the turbo timer. I'd hate to screw that one up. The other stuff.. you could do that. Get some friends and buy some beer.

haha yea 2-3 hours. that stuff is easy. well for someone that knows what they are doing. I say find a friend or post in the regional forums and see if someone local can help u and show you how to do this stuff yourself.

i used to giggle when people would ask me to put on there bovs

Turbo timer is not that hard if you know where you are taping connections.... I could probably wire up mine again in about 30 minutes without the e-brake. Catback might be worth install if you don't have anything easy to saw off the original with, but otherwise, piece of cake. Intake and bpv/bov is EASY. If you weren't on the other coast I would say bring it by the house and we would knock it out in a few hours. Good luck, let us know what happens!

Btw, I only paid $400 for my dp/rp install. Would have been $200-300 they said but took longer cause they messed up my O2 sensor

I really don't know much about cars. If you open up your hood, I'd look in and go, "hey~...there's your engine block. Oh looky! A turbo!" I wouldn't even know what to look for >_>" (<----complete amateur). Er...then is there anyone willing to install a HKS turbo-timer, HKS SSQV BOV, and an intake for me? I will pay, of course. I live in Koreantown, Los Angeles, California.

Edit:
I just received the Umnitza Chromium Angel-Eyes Headlights Kit I ordered today. I was wondering how much it'll cost to install and how long it'll take. >_>"...and if someone was willing to install it for me for cheap (I have the right to dream!).

do it yourself, wiring the timer will proly take longer than doing all the other stuff, exhaust = a few bolts, intake is bs and bov is even funnier to install

in that $300 if they installed a set of springs too while you were at it then it would be a pretty nice price at $300. Bov you can put on yourself, the catback is just trhe bolts and the hangers come right out. Ah well, I know time is money and I dont have much time for installs anymore, so sometimes paying for install is easier.

New problem:

I bought and have with me:
1. HKS SSQV BOV
2. HKS Turbo-Timer type-0
3. Umnitza Chromium Angel-Eyes

One of my close friends is friends with a guy who knows cars inside and out. He installed his own supercharger, fixes his friends cars, etc. so he knows what he's doing when it comes to installation. I asked him to install for me and I can get it cheaper than what some stores will offer to do it for. Thing is, how much should I offer to pay him? I mean, I don't wanna be too stingy with money and pay him chump change. I don't know him that well (only met him twice or so) and I wanna be kind...but not TOO kind xD!
