Injen CAI=slower spooling

The stock piping is crazy. Its almost C shaped, and goes all over the place. Plus its plastic. My intake (which is pretty much the same as the Injen) is a striaght line with only 2 bends.

sort of off-topic...i just got a cel going down the highway. no strange noises or anything. checked under the hood, everything looks ok....is the cai causing the cel?

haven't got the code checked yet....guess i'll have to wait till i get home and let it cool down to check all the connections physically...yeah, the iat is plugged in...

should i just reset the ecu or get the code first?

well either way its a good mod i think...just need to find something to stop the pipe from squeking around the hole..

My Injen included a 'vibration dampener'...a little rubber ring that fits around the pipe...you just put it on where it goes through the hole.

I just put my injen cai on over the weekend, and its nice...pulls harder up top. But I noticed when i'm watching my boost gauge..it takes a little longer to spool up than before. Once is fully spooling though, it has more power...

The stock..Intake..Is more restrictive..Everyone know's that..That why people alwayz upgrade intakes!

I don't see how..you could have lost spool up..I mean it's a 2.5" piping..whiuch is the same as the stock setup!

Also...the Filter they use..flows better than the stock filter!

When i was NA..I installed a SRI..and the top end was great..but bottom wasn't very good..i lost some tQ!

less restriction (can be linked with length) lets the engine breathe better at high airflows, and less torque down low (as well as less turbo spoolup)

same rule applies for the intake runners which is where length comes into play

Well I tested the 1/4 mile times with a stock msp and an Injen equipped MSP via a HKS timer type 1. I would always pull faster 1/4 mile times with the stock one. Will have to add a downpipe to this equation and retest. I believe the downpipe will improve the turbo spool and make the Injen equipped MSP faster than a stock air box MSP with DP.

Well..it's been said time and time again..

CAi will not add big HP #'s but..add some 3" exhuast..and you'll see the differenc!

I really dont care what anyone says, any dyno shows or any other means you may take into account on intakes,But,I am still running 14.0's @ 103MPH in the 1/4 on a STOCK AIRBOX!
I have had one of the original Injens back from the original GB from like May that is still sitting in my closet yet to be installed.
The Injen is good for one thing for sure.....(bling)

It WILL go under the hood when the rest of my polished and chromed goodies get completed!:D
I will run it at the track then and see if there are any gains....or any downfalls to it!
Matt

Glad that all non-Injen owners like the stock box or K&N drop in.

All you have to do is put on the INJEN and FEEL the difference! Who gives a crap about dynos, they can be tailored to the users need...just like any other statistic.

I run the Injen and have had no spool up problems. The mid range and top end air benefits driveability as well. The car is flat out awesome now that I have my TURBO XS controller installed. Even the 6.9 psi in stage 1 feels much stronger than before. I am still running the stock exhaust system...but very happy with the end result. Stage 2 @ 10 psi is very strong.

Injen + Boost Controller = One Happy MSP Owner. Just look at the "***" scope feeding air to the stock box. Any idiot can see the limitation of that set up. Get real.

a butt dyno and honest whp gain are too different things....like stated before...length greatly effects flow in any setting.....u dont see any car that wants good power setup with a long ass intake tube just to get some colder air...esspi

i will always back this up...if u plan to boost more.....get a sri....if u plan to stay stock...get a cai

Totally not true. There are plenty, and i mean plenty of high horsepower cars out there that run cai. I also checked the stock tubing, the stock tubing is longer than the injen, also plastic doesn't flow as well at metal does. While I do agree length does effect flow characteristics, its not as great as you might think.

I am not referring to "butt dynos".

I boost more than stock all day long...with my CAI.

Unless you have an Automotive Engineering degree, don't preach about "long ass tubes". Keep your stock box.

Its real simple, get a CAI or keep the restrictive box or SRI deal. Ram Air is 100% better than stock or under the hood SRI. Read the latest turbo magazine where they test the ION CAI. Its the same principle no matter which brand.

I am sick of the bulls*** being spread on this forum.
