@#$&ing rev-limiter

yea seriously blinking is the last thing you want to seee... means your misfiring or worse... i suggest just have the code read.

also what plugs coils and etc are you running? Remeber as well at 7200 spark fuel cut should be in affect.
i'm running 1.8L updated coils, denso iridium plugs, and stock ngk wires. i guess i'll take it to the mazda store next week and have them check the codes i've gotten.

...and i have power well over 6K

You're running standalone? Well if you're running standalone, then isn't there a feature to get rid of fuel cut? Or just adjust timing to make power around 6500rpm?

Doesnt the 2.0's powerband end right around 5500RPM, i never EVER go past the powerband as you decrease in horsepower and torque beyond that point, effectively ******* your ride as well as making you go slower?

please take pics of your burned valves and bent rods once you manage to take that baby to 8k. that's where the REAL power is

(freak)

I was shifting it into 2nd because I was going up-hill.... i needed the power and if i had it in D it would shift into 3rd... I live in hawaii where there is places that you need to get down into the lower gears in order to go up without full throttling it and eating gas.... I shifted it into Drive when it was past redline... it was an accident... only happened once... and besides the only person who should care about my car is the next person who owns it cuz im getting a Mazdaspeed 6 next year... aaauuuuurrrriiiiiggggghhhttt

what im thinking is that your hitting spark cut and the ecu is thinking its a misfire or something of that nature. I would say that since it doesnt bother you to hit the rev limiter i would do it and then take the car over to autozone and see what code it is.

That's true, but if you shift right at 5500 rpm, your rpms at the next gear will be WAAAAY below powerband and you will be smoked by the dude you're trying to race :D
