Infotainment System Bugs

Which is your infotainment ver.? It might be that you have to ask your dealer for update.

I will remember to take a look when I get to the car shortly.

Part of me thinks this might have started when they did the update a few months ago.

I updated to the most recent version and my issue is still unresolved. Previously on V27, my display would randomly reset to the Mazda logo as if the car had just started. I notified my dealer during my first service and they upgraded me to V31...but alas now I am experiencing this more frequently...which is a pain in the ass when Im actually using the Nav...
any tips?

I've been through .27, .30, an .31 now. System still reboots itself every 3 or 4 days. Mazda did finally get the HUD working right on my last visit finally.

I've had at least one "blue screen boot" each week, where instead of the "Mazda splash screen" I get a flat light blue screen on power-on. Only thing that clears it is a power-off/power-on. Everything seems to work behind the scenes, though: radio plays, backup monitor displays, etc.

What version are you currently on? I've only experienced the blue screen a few times when I was in v25 but ever since I updated to v31 a few months back it hasn't happened anymore and been pretty bug free other than the album art not showing.

Hello, I am new to this forum. Hoping someone can help me with trying to find my ESN #? I have an 08 Mazda 3i that I just bought. Luckily it came with all the original manuals. I tried going step by step to retrieve the ESN # to no avail. I turned on the car, hit the SAT button, then pressed and held the dial that says DISP. All that happens is the radio starts scanning through all the FM radio stations. I must be missing something if it is not working. I have tried these steps with the car running, car just turned to accessory, radio on, radio off. Can anyone provide any additional details or advice? It would be greatly appreciated. The regular radio reception really sucks, which is very disappointing.

Went to the dealer today and V31 was installed. Dealer claims this is the best update. However, the GPS is giving bizarre directions. This hasn't happened before. I am also noticing less channels with descriptive details now. Sounds like V31 is plagued by different issues. (eyeballs)

From what I heard so far, v29 is probably the best.
I have it.
The only issue I ever ran into was:
After starting up, do not put into "R" (like backing out of garage) right away. Give it a few seconds to boot up (also for engine rpm to come down to 1000 BTW).
Otherwise, the GPS is not properly loaded, and all I got is a compass. In other cases, the NAVI page is up but the home page is shown. Even if you hit NAVI page, it does not change. The fix is to hit "Home" and then "NAVI" to correct this. Some software "state" is messed up.
I have not run into rebooting yet with v29.

Upgraded to iOS 8. Now whenever I'm playing a podcast over Bluetooth, trying to access the list of available content on the device brings up a prompt saying it can't load content from this device. Probably a change in the way iOS is handling the podcast app, because I've had that happen before with third-party podcast apps. However, playing music lets you see all the content (including podcasts) just fine. The update also added another layer of folders, so browsing is now root menu > iPhone name (this is new) > artist/albums/podcasts.

My car's on v25. Anyone else with a newly updated iPhone seeing anything different?

Is there a list of what each version fixes? V33 is now out. Everyone has lots of iOS and iPhone 6 issues.

Lately I've been trying to see if I can use anything but my ALAC-loaded iPod with this thing. So far it won't play OGGs at all, crashes when it tries to read the stick. It sort-of plays AAC files, but without any tag info, never finishes scanning the stick, and won't shuffle...also it crashes after about 20 minutes. MP3s are still periodically crashing the system, and it likes to drop Bluetooth audio during calls. I refuse to use WMA on general principles.

When a car comes out with Android Car available, I may be trading in. It's too bad, I love everything about this car except for the infotainment system, but it's so tightly integrated and I spend so long on the road that it's too important to be having all these issues.

I just called Mazda Customer Service and I think they were great. Chris said that Mazda is aware of all the issues I complained about and that they are working with the software company that developed the software. He mentioned there seems to be an update coming up this October 2014, however it is not certain as things can change.

What he suggested is that customers who have any issue with its infotainment system to call Customer Service and obtain a file number or ticket. He said he is collecting a list of issues so that the responsible software company addresses it.

Here is the number: 1800 222 5500 option 6 option 2 dial ext 1176

These are the issues I complained about
1. Voice Recognition that never gets anything right specially when searching for an address
2. Resume playing on USB after a car restart - this is very annoying and is a safety concern as you might be driving and trying to find the song where you left off before
3. Message downloading - apart from being super slow, sometimes finds errors and stops downloading
4. Safety Lock message - He said this is a designed but I guess you can still complain
5. Entering addresses on Map while driving is disabled - again as designed but you can still complain

In summary, as long we don't complain they wont fix it. So call that number and open a complaint. He said he will call me or email me when the update is available.
