Info on height and cargo room of the Mazda 3

I currently have a p5 and may be looking to get a first gen mazda 3 hatch or sedan (depending on space). Does anyone know if the 3 sits higher then the p5's? Is there more cargo room, and interior space? I need more room! Thanks,

The specs on the Mazda 3 hatch detail a cargo volume of 17.1 cubic feet and for the protege5 a volume of 19.8

Cargo Vol Behind F/R: 31.2/17 cu ft

I can also speak from experience as recently my Protege5 bit the big one (damn construction) and was totaled. I recently picked up a 2005 Mazda 3 S hatchback Manual a few weeks ago. I have got a combined 25.8-26 mpg, but the power is much better than even my modded P5. The interior is definitely more roomy, and I can actually fit my rear facing car seat in the middle. The cargo room is not as deep as Protege5, but for a reason. There is a compartment under that can hold loose stuff. Also you no longer need to flip up the rear cushion to get the rear seats to fold flat!
