In need of wheels....

Picked up a '02 MP5 over the weekend. Needed a daily driver bad so this fit the bill. I'll be using this for commuting but with all my vehicles I know it won't be long before I start adding some things to it here and there. Right now, it's in desperate need of some wheels. Previous owner tried to do a rattle can job on the two fronts and the paint dried while it was dripping so they look like sh*t. Even my wife said "you're not leaving those on the car, right?" I'm undecided on what type of wheels I want to put on, but I know I need something so I was hoping to find some steelies to get me through the winter. I checked the classified but no luck. If anyone has a set they are willing to part with please send me an email. I found some on Ebay and Amazon but I really don't want to spend $500 on them to beat around in. Let me know and I look forward to learning more about the car from all of you! I'm sure I'll learn a lot from this informative board! thanks.

Why not remove the paint and rock the stockers? The hub bore is 67mm and the hub spacing is 5x114mm so rims are easy to find. Stock rim offset is around +55.

You could just sand out the runs and plastidip the wheels.

I have a set of the stock chrome wheels if you are interested. They are a little beat up, but not too bad iirc. I can try to get pics later if you like.

That's what I think I'm going to do. I have a couple different sized tires as well. 2 are 195's and 2 are 205's. Does a 205 55 16 work or is that too much side wall? Reason I'm asking is I can pick up all for of those really cheap. I have two bald fronts and "ok" rears so the tires need to be replaced.

The 205 tires will be easier to find and cheaper too. 205-50-16 is only a little more side wall than the stock size. No problems with 205 on my car when I was running 16's.

No, but a 50 series tire is a little wider and look better imo.

That's what my summer tires are. I really like the extra width, steering is more responsive and snaps back to center more quickly.

I had a bit of a dumbass attack. Stock size is 195-50-16. So a 205-50-16 is slightly taller. No ill effects. Just easier to find.

my 205/45/16's were significantly cheaper than the stock size, and overall, they really dont throw the speedometer off.
