Ok a friend of mine is planning on buying a car. He saw this 99 civic ex w/ 16 k miles for only $2,500 but the catch is the car was impounded by the cops and the cops are selling it for that cheap. Do you guys know why they sell it so cheap? is it because its salvage title? The interior/exterior and engine is still good not damage at all. Will the "impounded car title" stay on the car even if the car has been sold already?

the cops sell it for that cheap becuase they got it for free hence every penny they sell it for is profit..People wouldnt really wanna buy cars from cops for prices they could get at the dealer, so the cops drop the prices really low to sell all their stuff..You can get boats and other things in siezed auctions

i bought my jeep from them it has a clean record and was imponded for drunk driving. there lost ARE GAIN.

well the price is 75% fees that are owed being the reason the car WAS impounded and 25% is profit.

the cars are fine..theyre just cars that they take away from drug dealers or repo's or whatever. my aunt bought 2 2000 bmws 325i's a couple years ago at one of those auctions for a total of 10k..so she paid 5k for each bmw! its a damn steal!

they usually advertise in your local paper...usually under public auto auctions. theres also another place that i found that sells cool stuff from cop impounds/property rooms. www.stealitback.com
