I'm F***ed!!!

Well a couple weeks ago, a user of ours who's name I won't post yet (don't think the damage was his fault) sold me a OEM VIS CF hood for right around 320 shipped. Well it shipped out on the 18th and today I came home and found it sitting on my front door. My first reaction is "awesome, the hood's here!". I had no idea then what horrors lay waiting inside that box. Well I bring it inside and get ready to open it when I see to my dismay that one of the corners of the box has a huuuuge hole in it, and what should be peaking through that hole than one corner of the hood. Oh it gets better.... after noticing the one corner, I inspected the box further to find ALL FOUR CORNERS had holes in them! Well I knew what would prob be waiting for me inside the box, so I took pictures of the damaged box on all four corners, and a couple other places. Well next I decided to bite the bullit and open her up. After cutting away about a mile of duct tape, I got to the hood, poped it out of the box, then passed out for a couple of minutes. Both rear corners of the hood are totally F***ED!!! One waaaay worse than the other, but still both very much damaged. To boot, the front left corner of the hood was also damaged. It's faded a little and looks almost like the cf is coming apart or something. So I took pics of all of that... take a look and tell me what you think. It was shipped FEDEX from Canada to Florida. It was insured, or so I was told, and It was suposed to be marked fragile. HAH what good that did I have no idea. What I'm not sure of however is if the seller packed this hood, or if FEDEX packed it. Either way, it was very very poorly packed. There was foam protectors on the top of the hood, and one piece of foam on the bottom to sort of support the hood (keep it from resting on the corners), but there was NO FOAM AROUND THE CORNERS OF THE HOOD!!! WTF? That would be the FIRST place I would protect the hood knowing all too well that it is going to get so wear there. All in all, the hood is trash. The front corner *might* be salvageable, IF I decide to paint the hood down the sides, but the rear corners are just f**ked beyone repair I think. Besides that, hood looks very good. So guys what in the hell should I do? I've allready PM'd the seller telling him about the situation. Right now I'm thinking go after FEDEX... but I'm not sure. IDK what the hell to do... all I know is I spent $320 on this piece of s*** that was once probably a very nice hood. What to do? I'm so sick of this s*** (blarf)

call Fedex and just tell them what happened. Give them a tracking number/ any info they need.

And say what? Give me some pointers... I'll call before 8...
They have insurance on everything that they ship , I deal with Fed-ex and UPS alot ! You need to call and file a claim on it. Tell them that when it was shipped that it was fine. And due to shipping the corner of the box was ripped open, and the item was damaged. You should be able to get your money back , You might have to do some bitching though...Get your money back ! (nuts)

tell them the hood was not shipped in that condition and that this a outrageous. That you wanted this hood for a show and now you dont think youll be able to attend. The should inturn send a inspector out. Contact the sending party as wel.

had the same thing happen to me but in reverse. I shipped a '01 cobra hood to some 1 in VA. I had ups package it and ship it. I only carried the basic insurance($100) well when the guy got the hood he emailed me saying that the hood was totally fubar & sent me pics of it. I was in total disbelief what i had to do was go back to my ups store after they received the hood back from VA. Once returned ther i went down and got the $100 i was covered in insurance & and raised hell about the shipping cost. I figured since i payed them $80 to package and bubble wrap & another$110 to ship it that i wanted everything i spent back. So after a day they refunded me a full refund that i has spent on shipping. I then in return sent the money back to the customer.
Hopefully this helps in a way to resolve this issue. I would have fedex come back and pick it back up and refuse it because of the damage.

No matter what, the hood is un-repairable unless you want to fiberglass corners back on and paint most of the hood -- even the part on the front edge would need glass work

Pe@ce

It's a real shame. I just looked at some hi-res pics the seller sent me before the sale... I notice no damage on the front, and from what I can see, no damage on the rear corners. It was the shipping. I tried fedex... a couple numbers. Nothing. I'll try again first thing tomorrow afternoon :(

uhh ok wtf, honestly fedex sucks but i don't think they would ship a package like that...the guy who sold it probably shipped and they asked for insurance and he could have said "no" and refused the insurance in which case you are ******. Hopefuly that's not the case dude...

wow. sucks. 320 SHIPPED?! seems a bit low. maybe the hood did have damage, because that means he sold the hood for only like $200 or so.

if the seller shipped it in that box and didn't ask for insurance then he's at fault, but if he brought it to fedex and asked them to ship it and got insurance to cover the cost, then you are ok...

The seller is an active forum member with a moderate post count. He only sold it for that price after lowering it from a higher price due to a move I think. Anyways, I know that it wasn't in that shape before it was shipped, or he sent me pics of the hood before it was damaged, but I highly doubt he would do something like that. I'm just wondering if he packed it, or if fedex packed it. There was some VIS paper used inside the box too. This leads me to believe he might have packed it... but idk that for sure. Either way, I'm not gonna bend over and take this one in the....

thank youre president and his trusty dept of homeland security. i know since i got laid off there that things have tightened up, but in all the wrong places. I have no doubt customs took a chunk out of your package.

Look at the JDM tail shipments that came from the original group buy. My box was completely *****!

Aside from that, like they said I also have a feeling it wasnt in top shape leaving for departure.

Good luck

(rofl)(rofl)(rofl)(rofl)(laugh)(upyours)
why would customs TOUCH something shipped FROM the US to the US?!

and if it WAS sent thru US CUSTOMS and actually INSPECTED (not all are inspected) it would have GREEN customs tape. i didnt see any of that.
