I decided to stop for a while on doing mods to my car and im going to save up and buy a crotch rocket... i think im either going to get a 1992-96 GSXR or im going to go all out and get a 2001 CBR 900.... i also may be able to save enough to get a 1996 748 ducati ill need about 9k or so for that .. but it is well worth it for a ducati... my good friends dad has about 6 ducati's and they are all bad ass...

just thought i would tell you guys... im so excited about it b/c i have wanted one since i was 14....

Are you going to do more city or back roads riding? If you're in the city, get the Honda. Ducs are sweet, but not that great for the city. Seat isn't much to be happy about. The honda 929 is pretty nice. Lots of torque and a hell of a wheelie monster. Downside to the Duc is you have to keep the revs up pretty good to get the torque.
Not being a know it all, but I've been riding for a while and get to play on all types of bikes. I love Ducs, but my money has gone to Honda so far as they seem to do everything pretty well and don't pinpoint their reputation to one aspect of riding.
Suzuki is a great track bike, but the sitting position doesn't lend itself as much to city riding either.
If you want to try the newer toys, you might go with the new Honda 954. Lighter and faster even than the 929. Very sweet ride.
If you like the V-twins, try a superhawk. They are sweet, and usually pretty cheap as they didn't find much of a following, but a great ride none the less.
Problem I had with the newer (2000+) Honda 9xx series was that they narrowed the tank. I love the feel of my '99. The tank is big between your legs. It give a lot of feel for the bike and you don't get the nut-busters if you ever bring it down wrong. Just a thought.
Good luck, and let us know what you decide!

ive only ridden a few bikes before and i dont think i want to go above 750cc... what are the best bikes b/w 600-750 that are somewhat cheap and good bikes... i like the old 80's style bikes but i cant find which one is the one with the twin round headlights... that is my fav looking mike bit i cant find out what it is...

What you're probably thinking of is the mid 80's nighthawk 650. I can't remember what years specifically they made the dual headlights but that bike was one of the few those years. The dual headlight was a special model designation too if my memory serves me right. As far as new bikes suzuki SV650 , GSXR750, honda VFR750 interceptor, The yamaha FZR750's not bad either, although i think some of the maganize testers complained about an underpowerment issue, and of course my personal fav the Ducati monster 750, just because i own one wouldn't make me biased at all. Other mentionables are the kawaski EX500 and the Duc 748....don't let the 748 fool you...bad ass bike for the size it'll outrun most 900's.

Last 600 I had was an 89 CBR600 (F1/Hurricane) Really nice bike with the bench seat. Damn that was comfortable. Had a single headlight though. I'll look into the double headlight older 6xxish for ya.
Good luck on whatever purchase you make.

I've got a 2000 Katana 600 which rides really nice and is pretty comfy! It's also more of a sport touring bike. Has double headlights as well which I love. I wanted to get a GSXR600 but at the time I was looking it was a little too much money. Hoping within the next year or so I can trade in for a GSXR or CBR. I've always liked the CBR's. Good luck in which ever one you get, let us know. I love bike's!!!!

The RC51 is a nice big v-twin, but again it's a little rough around the city. Great for the twisties though. It's a definite force in racing right now.
The Interceptor is a sweet bike. Very comfortable, and just as sporty in the twisties as the rockets, at a much more comfortable stance.
Not trying to be rude, but I've never really had much good to say about Katanas. They are usually a bit heavy. Often don't have enough juice. Good bike to get started on, but I've never known anyone to not want more after riding one for a short while, and that makes riding expensive when you keep changing bikes.
Just some more thoughts.

CJ - I understand what your saying about the Katana's. Very heavy(@ almost 500 lbs.), but good for a starter bike; which is what is was for me. That's why I'm hoping to trade it in within the next year. It's got just enough juice for a starter. I've had it for about 2 years now and it's been a great ride so far but I want a little more power now since I've got some experience! Like I said though, great starter bike but a bit heavy! Later.
