Ignore/Block Member feature

It's exceedingly rare I would do this. I think I've blocked maybe 1-2 people in over 20 years of forum going. So after using this feature, here is what I am seeing.

Responses to threads from the list view look like this:

But inside the thread, I still see the user's name and post block, with just the post content censored.

Normally, a block feature will basically make a user disappear, or close to it. Sometimes it just collapses their post and leaves a small remnant so you know a post was there, but you don't see a name or much else.

Are we stuck with this functionality, or are there options? And what is the rationale for continuing to see users you've blocked? Thanks.

I'm looking into this but so far, I'm not seeing any other options. It may be, what you see is what you get. I don't recall making any changes from default to the ignore feature (doesn't even seem like you can).

If I find anything, I'll be sure to post updates...

Ps...There is a major update on the way for the system we use, perhaps the ignore feature will receive added functionality.

May I ask what the current status is with the ignore/block feature? I am new here and have learned a lot from the questions and answers. However, I found that the tone of any discussion can change for the worse by someone who has to have the last word. I feel a block would be mutually beneficial. Or I can ask him to add me to his ignore list. 😅

It appears there haven’t been any major updates to the ignore feature since my last response in this thread. We install updates when they’re released including just recently so if you’re not seeing any changes, XenForo (the Forum system we use) likely hasn’t pushed through any updates yet. I searched for any developments regarding the feature but did not come across anything…I’ll be sure to keep monitoring for updates though…:)

As for the behavior you describe…

In addition to this related response…
You’re added. You don’t have to ask twice.
Makes this a good time to mention as a general reminder for everyone…Being argumentative, confrontational, condescending etc as opposed to friendly, informative and helpful does not go unnoticed and will result in being permanently banned.

For the record - my plugs came out with the electrodes coated in carbon, but with roughly the same gaps as their replacements.

Didn’t want to put that there, as I really don’t care to stir pots.

He is informative and helpful. Maybe "haha" after every sentence will offset the effect of the old school headmaster tone.

I believe I know who you are referring to now, note you can mention to that person that you don't appreciate their tone (and neither does the admin) and that being condescending etc is not encouraged here...You can refer them to my reminder if needed as well...

Maybe they will read this thread and realize that while being helpful and informative is very much appreciated...Being arrogant, condescending, patronizing etc is not appreciated and will result in being permanently banned.
