Ignition Coils and Plugs

Hey everyone. I'm a new Mazda 2 owner and new to this forum so I'm not sure if this has been asked already. If so I apologize. I'm thinking about putting in some performance coils and plugs into my car and I'm wondering what people here think about the benefits of this type of mod. Also I'm curious as to how to get to my coils. Do I need to remove the air cleaner, the PCM or both? Any help would be amazing.

Thanks everyone

I'd say, honestly, don't bother. The plugs Mazda uses are NGK Iridiums, which are *very* high quality and last a long time. And as for new coil packs, I'm not even sure what kind of gains you'd see.

I think most around here would agree that a better bang-for-buck upgrade would be a short ram intake.

The only performance you'll gain is about .1HP from how much they will lighten your wallet. As DrWebster already said the plugs are Iridiums and the coils are not a weak point in the system. Unless you plan on pushing 20lbs of boost, which will toast this motor, the stock ignition system is more than enough for anything you can throw at it. Invest that money in things like suspension, tires, a tune, or header for any real gains to be had.

Thanks peoples. I was sure I wouldn't see much, but was unsure so I thought I'd ask. Thanks again.
