Hey guys... Has anyone upgraded their coils on the 2.0 ?
One of mine just went bad, and idw to replace it with an OEM.
I know some do the swap off the 626... What would be the advantages of doing that? I'd like to keep the stock-looking COPs, so any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks. :)

The oem are the best way to go if you are looking to keep the COP. And there are no upgrades for the coil itself. If you choose to go the 1.8l conversion route then you lose the COP : http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123814355-1-8L-Coil-conversion&highlight=626+plug+swap or http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123650373-2.0-conversion-to-1.8-Coil-Packs

check these out. as far as I know there is really no advantage to the 626 conversion other than looks. (correct me if I am wrong)

no gain from them. They just look cleaner. The only COP upgrade Im aware of that has actually been used on the protege is the AEM twin fire ignition setup. Im pretty sure you aren't looking for something in that category though. I believe they require a standalone to work properly. Not 100% on that. But either way, that would be overkill for a NA protege. Just get a new set of OEM coils. They aren't that expensive and is pretty much the only choice you have
