If you're thinking of an SRI...

Just do it!

Now that winter is over and the snow tires have been swapped for summer rubber, I decided to re-install my SRI.

All I can say is I am continually impressed with the difference it makes and I really like driving the car a lot more with it installed. With an SRI, you can hear the turbo and the car is much more responsive. It pulls harder in every gear but I notice it the most in 1 through 3. Makes the car a LOT more fun. At peak power in second, it spins the tires. Doesn't do that with the factory box.

Mine's a PG with an AEM filter. All I have to do now is get up the guts to swap out the factory TIP for my PG TIP.

You don't need guts. It's not that hard really. Once the battery and box are out it's a peice of cake. Lots of fun too cause it gives you a great view of the turbo.

+1. Im pretty bad with mechanical stuff, and this wasnt that difficult to do. Just get a friend to help you out and it should be a breeze.

That's exactly my primary concern. I'm considering ordering those parts from the Mazda parts dealer on this forum just in case I bust one. I cannot be without the car or wait for those parts if I bust one by accident.

My other issue is I want to be able to quickly install the OEM airbox if necessary. I suppose I could just leave the PG TIP installed and do that however.

Don't sweat the tip install. Read the corksport installation instruction pdf on their website, it is very straight forward. You do have to remove a few pieces, but they are not difficult. Just go easy on the boost solenoid nipples. I was able to slowly wiggle the hose off and they did not break. Just make sure you dont pull at an angle. Pull straight up on them, and you will be fine.

Do not let a little apprehension stop you from installing one of the best parts for our cars.

Chowhound is right, don't be scared to install it. I accidentally broke the nipple off because I wasn't paying attention while installing the fuel pump. Its the most noticable power improvment so far.
