IF the Protege didn't exist, What would you drive?

i prob would have gotten a civic SIR...the problem at the time when i got the pro is that all the cool cars where comming out that next spring....if i had to do it again i probably would have goten a Spec V

2002 Nissan Sentra Spec-V...I was a long time sentra owner before I got my protege. Went there first, came so close to trading it in. THen my dad persuaded me to check out mazda, saw a car called a protege which i never even knew about. Test drove it and it was love at first drive. Shifting was much better than the Spec-V and it was only an ES!! Now im sold on mazdas

Mazdaspeed RX8.....seeing as how mazda has officially turned down the new RX7 now. They feel its era is over and the RX8 will carry the torch.

a junkyard pinto...

Nah, probably a Matrix (don't flame! I liked it BEFORE I saw the P5!!!)

I would of sold out and got a civic and riced it out ....
Thats the truth ! Because before i got my Protege5, i was into all those wings and lights etc. But once i joined the Mazda boards. You guys gave me a new insight, and i quickly sold them and acted as if i never had them lol !
I would of been on the Civic fourms and inflenced to Rice items !
I would of been that dude Reving my Dx at you lol, to trying to spin my tires in the rain to show off lmao.

I don't know if Cali is anything like Orlando, but there are a million 240s here & 75% of them have an SR20. I used to think it was cool, but now it's just annoying.

Same deal out here too. People have been doing the SR20 swap out here since 95-96. And it just got very popular the last two years or so.

I wonder if the Fast and the Furious had anything to do with that

Either a 99 2.5RS or Used/New WRX. I could have gotten one if the price was right...but I only got a chance to drive the MSP and knew that it was the one. I got to sit in a bunch of different cars this past weekend at a car show, and after all that I went back to my little Mazdaspeed in the lot and knew it was all right that I didn't get most of those.

I totally agree with you my friend. Every body jumped on the import bandwagon after Fags and Furious.

Before I stumbled over the mp3 in a mag, and then lucked out and found one at a dealer I was looking at honda's. I actually had 2 that I was very intertested in.

93 Black civic hatch with a b18c5 in it and some other tasteful jdm crap.
98 type R with some mods.

I wanted a 240, but didn't really want to go through the hassle of doing a swap.

I also had been looking at Audi A4 1.8T's, and 2nd gen eclipse gsx's.

Glad I got the mp3 though, just because its rare, and now its decently quick.

What...you mean slow and pretentious? That actually impressed me enough to look beyond muscle cars into a market that I really hadn't thought of, so it was good for something. Of course, I was a huge Subaru fan and hated all teh cookie-cutter APC style rice parts that were on cars, so I knew from the beginning to avoid that crap. Of course...now everyone and their Mama has a WRX, a car that I had been drooling over for 4 years previous to its statewide launch. Now it's become one of those fast and furious mobiles...depressing.

Ever see that bumper sticker that says "my other ride is your mom?" That would be me... cept it would be a dude. lol :p
My other ride was the 03 Corolla S w/body kit before this one.

Mine would have been a wrangler, a stratus, or a miata. P5 just made the most sense for me. Now that winter has hit I am wishing I had taken the wrangler or kept my dodge ram.

I was in love with the '99 2.5RS any color would have done, but the only ones i could find when i was looking for a car were automatics, and i refused to drive an automatic. So i ended up with my black ES... Now i can find a 2.5RS or even a nice WRX for cheap :(
