Based on "Intelligance by the Bush staff" it was believed that Iraq still had WMD. Also, with Saddams reluctance to allow the Inspectors to thoroughly go through the country, Bush felt that Iraq was a threat, both as a country, and in the terrorists state.
Terefore, with the concent of a republican controlled senate, he was given full authority to launch an invasion of Iraq, without a declaration of war, based on the premise that Iraq was harboring Terrorists (which it was/ and still does) but mainly based on the WMD.

oh geez.. politics.... the never ending arguement goes on. here's a solution that i know the government will LOVE. drill a sideways pipe (a la the simpsons) into iraq's oil reserves from the persian guld and then fence of the whole ******* country, leave, and let those fuckers do whatever they want. if other countries wanna b**** about humanitary stuff then they can ******* help them. they might as well help out all of the other ****** up countries out there that noone is paying attention to because the media isn't spotlighting it. tyrany and poverty is all around us

Before people start spouting off about hunting Osama, or a full fledged war in Afghanistan, look at what happened to Russia during thier 10 year occupation.
On top of that, based on the Afghan terrain, and type of cobat manuvers going on, it is mostly dont by Spec Ops personnell, whcih you will hear little of because their actions are classified.

first they would pick up ex-Army long before they would even consider the draft. people dont know how shorthanded we are right now - if we needed a draft EVER now would have been the time.

Before u guys go around bashing around religion, lets make one thing straight!!! You are the (jerkit)(jerkit)(jerkit)(jerkit). If you ask any true Muslim about the religion, it is a peaceful religion. the word "salam alykom = peace upon you". the religion does not believe in war. If you are going to be complete idiots and believe what is on CNN or Fox biast news, then , better get some history understood before posting. Now, i am not saying this to be an asshole, but to express my anger and dissapointment at the members that decided to link religion and Allah to what those idoits call them selves al qaeda.
There is one thing that they fight against the americans or whoever to get out of thier country and another to say they fight to spread the word of Allah. they may use it (which is totally wrong and unacceptable.....if u don't believe me, read any of the muslim scholors (sp?) opinion, press statments). but, that doesn't make it right. and you shouldn't just decide to bash a religion based on that. you don't see any muslim running around threatening people or preaching their religion.
It is like saying that hitler was Christain, thus the whole ******* religion of christanity was the devil. or saying the KKK used god in their preaching or whatever, and the observer blindly decided to conclude that the religion was KKK orientated and they hated black people.
I hope i got my point across....

There are many muslims on the board, granted, we dont voice our opinion alot, just for the matter we don't want any part of this nonsense, but when i see direct insult to my religion, i wont stand for that s***.

were not realyl overall shorthanded thats why. just in certain specific necessary fields that no one will join in or qualify for (like mine, which requires between 1 year minimum and 2 years to compeltely train, 52 wks a year 8 hrs per day cept some weekends).gimpo2 said:

I think they are already using a draft...it's just that not many people are realizing it. I'm sure that Matthew is familiar with the IRR and military personel's enrollment in it. Some Veterans are recieving orders to report back to duty even after there paperwork and service requirements have expired. Most of the people this has happened to are fighting it, but I'm sure there are some out there who haven't paid attention to whats going on and are signing back up even though they don't have to. There are also reports of officers having to report back even after their resignations were sent to the Pentagon. The Pentegon's ruling is that they never accepted the resignations and therefore the officers are still active. There is a draft going on..it's just the government continuing to exploit veterans when they have clearly done their time.
