If the Militants could get any dumber

I think they are already using a draft...it's just that not many people are realizing it. I'm sure that Matthew is familiar with the IRR and military personel's enrollment in it. Some Veterans are recieving orders to report back to duty even after there paperwork and service requirements have expired. Most of the people this has happened to are fighting it, but I'm sure there are some out there who haven't paid attention to whats going on and are signing back up even though they don't have to. There are also reports of officers having to report back even after their resignations were sent to the Pentagon. The Pentegon's ruling is that they never accepted the resignations and therefore the officers are still active. There is a draft going on..it's just the government continuing to exploit veterans when they have clearly done their time.

that, i didn't know!
thanks for pointing that out

the woman was a philanthropist. Her death by ANYONE no matter who it was is a tragedy.

Sometimes the good people die and the bad people live. It's one of the tough things about life.

did I over trivialize this story?

im not sure you udnerstand that IRR. when you sign up, you owe the army 8 years regardless. you have your 8 years, minus the term you sign up for. the remainder you are on IRR and can be called back up at any time. so if enlist for 6 years i still owe the army 2 after in IRR status.

there are some people that dont quite understand this nor wish to accept it, military members included, and sometimes fight the govt when called back up.

im sure there are times where one or two people might be called up jsut past that service requirement, but when your nation needs you and youve already done your time, its not going to kill you to help out a little more. there are people everyday that wisht hey could fight but have been discharged medically.

im sick of seeing soldiers who are IRR, reserve, or natl gaurd b**** about being called up. youre in the army or are still at least attached by some means, what do you expect. no one forced ANYONE to sign any paperwork. the military is all volunteer, so once you sign the paperwork, its not like the civilian world where you can just ditch. otherwise the army would spend millions of dollars a year on deadbeats.

the army has spent over 300,000 training me just to be an interrogator, and thats a fact. just on me. ym language school alone is valued at 150k+. if i could jsut bail whenever the s*** i wanted, the army would be REALLY hurting. these peopel who are bitching and suing need to help out the country that serves them everyday.

Good points, but I'm talking about confirmed cases where even the IRR has expired or the military has failed to recognize a resignation. Most of it can probably be attributed to clerical errors, but this is proof that the military is at the end of it's rope and with recruitment numbers way down it's either draft or start having enlistment as a requirement for parole.

Well...technically...it could kill you.

Before u guys go around bashing around religion, lets make one thing straight!!! You are the (jerkit)(jerkit)(jerkit)(jerkit). If you ask any true Muslim about the religion, it is a peaceful religion. the word "salam alykom = peace upon you". the religion does not believe in war. If you are going to be complete idiots and believe what is on CNN or Fox biast news, then , better get some history understood before posting. Now, i am not saying this to be an asshole, but to express my anger and dissapointment at the members that decided to link religion and Allah to what those idoits call them selves al qaeda.

There is one thing that they fight against the americans or whoever to get out of thier country and another to say they fight to spread the word of Allah. they may use it (which is totally wrong and unacceptable.....if u don't believe me, read any of the muslim scholors (sp?) opinion, press statments). but, that doesn't make it right. and you shouldn't just decide to bash a religion based on that. you don't see any muslim running around threatening people or preaching their religion.

It is like saying that hitler was Christain, thus the whole ******* religion of christanity was the devil. or saying the KKK used god in their preaching or whatever, and the observer blindly decided to conclude that the religion was KKK orientated and they hated black people.

I hope i got my point across....
Be careful what you say, especially around the religion subject.
There are many muslims on the board, granted, we dont voice our opinion alot, just for the matter we don't want any part of this nonsense, but when i see direct insult to my religion, i wont stand for that s***.

Agreed 100%.

MAtt, not being a jerk, but talking about stuff like that here is asking for a flame war.

I personally agree totally, those people are animals and all should ******* die, (which I know that comment will draw negativity) but here your topic will draw asshole tree huggers. :D

Oh sorry how about a ham sandwhich don't worry I won't tell ALLAH!
(rofl)
Man, don't wind you damn diaper so tight it's affecting your brain :D

There is a good chance that most of these militants are Iranian which would mean they are doing exactly what they planned to. They hate Iraq, US, and England. Unfortunately as this develops and Iran continues to support the insurgency does this mean Iran is next?

See what I mean Matt. SC, what WE are trying to point out is that this woman, WHO HAD A DUAL ENGLAND/IRAQ CITIZENSHIP, that was there to HELP THESE PEOPLE was murdered, because these people are just pure evil, and will kill thier own people to get the word of ALLAH noticed from thier group.

As far as Americans being killers and whatnot, we all know this happens every day here. What the issue is these terrorists find this necessary to continue to do something that will not suceed in what they want. Taking innocent lives because you have a whole contry or religion is very HITLERISTIC. :D

none of these people had any power in iraq until we invaded. saying the world is better without saddam is pure hypocrisy, because we loved his tyrant ways when he was killing his iranian neighbors. remember that pic of rumsfeld shaking his hand.

and as for spreading democracy in the muslim world, a CIA orchestrated coup overthrew the best chance for real democracy in iran back in 1953 and reinstated the shah...which ultimately led to the rise of religious fundamentalism in the region.

anytime muslims tried to create democratic or egalitarian societies for themselves, the US or the British would interfere in the name of fighting "communism." every secular movement in the middle east was squased by outside intervention, and we wonder why they turned to militant islam.

i'm not trying to flame or anything, and i'm especially not tryin to justifty the actions of beheaders and religious fundamentalist militants...its just that the picture is more complicated than ideas of "pure evil" and what not.

Yeah we have meddled int he Middle East too much. Its ironic that our greatest enemies were at one time our greatest friends, Osama, Saddam, Castro, and possibly Ho-Chi Minh... Even Hitler had support in this coutnry before the genocide thing. If we just left them alon it would be alot better int he Middle East.
BTw the countries we do support, like Saudi Arabia, Oman, United Arab Emirates, arent democratic at all but are very strict monarchies. Irony or American BS...you decide.

**** it , no, im tired of all this crap, just ******* blow everyone up. just end all this crap, always war, always bulls***...just end it all already.

what pisses me off about skewed views like this, is that you are trying to learn from history but not enough. political situations change and we make new enemies and new friends all the time. what was in our best interest (to shake saddams hand to put it real simple) then is not our best interest now.

if that was the case wed still be persecuting germany for WWI and WWII
