Idemitsu IFG3 5W-30 SP/GF-6A Motor Oil

I used it for about the first four years that i had my cx5. But it became a little too expensive & hard to find. Now i just get Pennzoil Ultra Platinum from Walmart. I don't notice any difference in performance, but I am not as "in tune" with my car as others.

Use it, don't use it, but honestly, do what E_N (sort of) says and grab a jug of whatever synthetic oil you want from Walmart.

I usually get Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, Valvoline Advanced Synthetic or Mobil 1.

Just change it regularly (~5k miles) and you'll be fine. Don't overthink it.

The currently available Idemitsu oil is not the high moly oil that was available a few years ago. They stopped making that one for commercial sale for some reason. The factory fill on 2.5 NA engines is still Idemitsu high moly. Mazda dealers do have a new Idemitsu high moly GF6a oil by the quart but it's pricey

Are you speaking of the Mazda 0w20, GF6 Eco 7 oil? The latest part number is 0000-77-ECO7-QT. this replaces the GF 5 version of the high moly. Not sure if there is as much moly, im trying to find that out , but im starting to really like the mazda oil. Been reading some great stuff about it.

How many current Mazda 0W20 oils are currently available? Do dealer service departments typically stock multiple versions?

This was my question when i searched for sellers and got all kinds of different part numbers... but after contacting a few sellers and asking directly AND using ai it came up with this .. it doesnt mention the GF5 wich i think was before the bottom one.

As far as dealers stocking , I wouldnt know. The one i call here in Texas never answers the phone so im going online to get it.

Both Mazda part numbers 000-77-ECO7-QT and 0000-G6-0W20-QT represent genuine Mazda Full Synthetic 0W-20 oil designed for SKYACTIV engines, with the ECO7 (000-77-ECO7-QT) being the updated formulation that replaced previous versions (like 0000-G6-0W20-QT) to meet newer GF-6 standards. Both are high-quality, low-viscosity oils focused on fuel efficiency.

Key Details on the Difference:

  • 000-77-ECO7-QT (ECO 7): This is the newer, updated formulation. It is explicitly labeled as GF-6, designed to provide better deposit control and improved wear protection for modern engines. It is often sold as the standard, current-generation oil for most Mazda models.
  • 0000-G6-0W20-QT: This was a previous generation Genuine Mazda 0W-20 oil, often referred to as a "Moly" formulation. While still synthetic and approved for Mazda, it has largely been superseded by the ECO 7 version in the market.

Both oils are intended for high-performance, fuel-efficient operation in Mazda vehicles, and in most cases, 000-77-ECO7-QT is the recommended substitute if the older 0000-G6-0W20-QT is unavailable.
