ick. door related problems

Need to take the 5 in for two things now:

passenger's slider doesn't always unlock on the first try. You can hear it trying to, but sometimes needs 3-4 trys with the drivers unlock button/FOB for it to actually unlock. Works fine if you unlock it from the door itself.

Driver's window won't roll down. No noise, no nothing. Good thing it was up when it decided to stop working.

Oh well its under warranty, but I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Anything stand out in your mind that may have caused the failures? In my case my daughter is in the "kick it because your feet can reach" stage and she is constantly locking the door on the drivers side. I hope there aren't more issues like this in your future, or mine.

My 5 is waiting on a part for the same problem

Sounds like you may have the same issue I have. Only it's happening with the driver's side slider. Hitting the remote button or lock button on the door will cause the rear door to "jump" on a lock. The tech said it sounds like a bad solenoid. A part is on order.

The window just stopped working, so no idea on it.

The slider lock I think is because my son liked to yank on the door handle while we were trying to unlock the door.

But overall so far we're happy with the 5. The two minivans we owned before had a lot more serious problems. First one needed a new transmission before 25k miles and the second one was dead in the driveway at 624 miles, and the one of rear e-brakes didn't always release. Plus a host of other problems.

Let us know what the dealer finds for you. This reminds me of the story my dad loves to tell about his Chrysler Lebaron SW that he bought new in 86. It had a digital clock in the glovebox door that for some reason kept crapping out on him. He took it to the dealer like six times, always with the same failure: the clock would read 3:33 constantly. One day after any frustrating attempts to fix the damned thing my dad is picking up my little sister from ballet practice and she beams over at my dad and says " Look Daddy all 3's!" My Dad says " Oh thats nice sweetie, have you ever done this before?" My sister comes back with, "Oh yes, lots of times, three is my favorite number!" The next time he had the car at the dealer for service the tech asks him about the great mystery clock, and my Dad just says " That last one you gave me seems to have done the trick." I just see a Chrsyler TSB about dash clocks that read all 3's and laugh to myself.

Yeah kids are the greatest tester

My two sons are pretty good with our cars, but there are times when they get silly and start playing with the windows and I have visions of broken partially closed, power windows in the rain.

FYI, the part came in and I'm dropping the 5 off for the door lock today.

So we took the car in yesterday, and the window went up and down just fine and the slider locked and unlocked everytime. Typical, take it in and everything works fine.
