This is why everyone should get a beater for their first car. If you mess up, you're out a beater and not a brand new car. I'm glad I had a escort wagon with stick to learn on. That thing took a beating and was still running when we donated it.

You hear that parents? Don't buy your inexperienced kids a SI for their first car. (referring to that other thread)

Well the fact that all three people walked away from some pretty serious accidents is probably why they came back for a new one. I know that in two of the three cases, I don't think I'd have seen them again if they were in a beater.

Yeah that's true. I had just read the thread about the 16 year old rolling the new SI and totaling it, and figured the situation was similar (inexperienced driver making a mistake.) But yeah being in a serious accident it would be smarter to buy a new car, or a 70's lincoln. You wouldn't have to worry about suv's anymore in the lincoln
