I decided to go to the test and tune at the local drag strip here... i have a AEM short ram, i removed my resonator, and i had my new wheels installed... the new wheels are 5 lbs lighter than the stock wheels....

my best time was 16.6 @ 82.4 mph

One thing i noticed is there is A LOT of heat soak on the AEM.... my times gradually got worse as i ran more runs. I found the best way was to ride 3rd gear out... dont shift into fourth... i shifted right at redline...

hope this info is helpful to you guys

Man...that's kind of dissapointing...mine ran 16.5 stock...with winter tires/rims. Maybe the AEM CAI isn't worth it?

Remember guys, the times will vary from state to state due to altitude, and or weather conditions. It is a bias opinion to say the AEM is worthless.

The only way to tell is buy it and run your car and compare times.

Also not every MP3 comes out of the factory with the same exact horsepower.

Some people will get ones with more than reported, and others will get less.

Our engines are bulkly made, therefore inbetween calibrations of the machines boreing the blocks the engines become a hair or two off in operation. This is not harmfull to your engine, just your performance.

Yeah, i guess it all varies, but even still he has 5lbs of less weight per rim...that's an extra 2whp right there, PLUS whatever the AEM does...

chdesign...what's your fastest official time on the track? With how many PSI?

my 1/8 th mile time

i ran an 11.1 in the eighth mile is sanger which is a track just north of me. it was my first time ever to run my car. i gradually got worse times with it bc i was trying different ways to launch it. any advise at what rpm to launch without hopping the tires? thanks yall

Question:

Post-Weight-Reduction Adjusted WHP = Pre-Weight-Reduction WHP + (([removed weight] LBS / 10 LBS) X 1 WHP) ?

I assume this is on a logorithmic scale? Certainly, as you approach the cam HP limit (theoretically, of course, since your car cannot be weightless), gains will become insignificant?

Just wondering...

Yeah, that's the basic formula...2whp for 5lbs reduction seems reasonable, no?

mp301guy, I launch around 2400rpm.

my 1/8th mile was 10.7

im still learning how this car drives... im used to the TORQUE master i used to have.... that ran 9.8 - 10.2 1/8 mile times...

Also Chris, I don't know if you know this, but the track we went to (in Milan Mich.) is considered to be on the slick side. Not the grippyist surface. Oh, and Chris don't tell anybody on here what I ran, it'll spoil it for the meet.

14.63 5 psi of boost can't remember the speed off the top of my head I think it was around 89 or 98 something like that.

Is that with nitrious?
I should have gotton the 10:1 plate on the Vortch FMU. I'm running 6:1 and was still adding a descent amount of fuel with my AFC. But I have 550cc injectors on order, so I won't need it before long.

That is a decent time you ran, how many runs did you snap off? I've been to Milan a couple of times when I lived in Michigan. The best I ran was a 16.2 with heavy 17 inch wheels and all the bolt ons in my 97 Civic EX at Milan last year. So I guess it's safe to say my EX is a little nit faster than my MP3. Damn that sucks. :(

i found a hp estimator and i put in the info... it asks for time, speed, weight of car with ME in it... and it fugured i have 149 hp..
which is not bad.. im not sure on how accurate is is though
