removing your shifter boot. first off open the door of your cup holder. grab each side by sticking your hands in the hole and gently pull back and up....the cup holder and the piece surrounding the shifter pops out. you will see TWO screws at the front of the shifter boot on its hold down ring. The kicker here is that there are two more but they are installed from the BOTTOM!!! (its things like this that makes me hate engineers) Here is where you get to make a choice. IF by lossening the two front ones and carefully removing the front part of the boot, IF you can get a stubby phillips head screw driver under there with a small hand you MAY be able to get the back two out. if not...what you need to do is completely remove the console. To do this, place the fingers of one hand in the slot that the emergency brake handle sticks through and gently pull. that piece pops out. on the floor in the resulting hole you will see TWO screws holding the console to the floor, at the front of the console on each side you will see a little button, that pops off and uncovers two more screws, THEN move both seats all the way forward and you will find two more screws on the sides of the console near the rear. NOW, unscrew the shifter knob. your console is now loose and can be lifted up and back to remove it. turn it over, remove the final two screws holding the shifter boot ring and its off. trim to fit the way you want...and reverse the previous steps to reinstall.
