I Want A Loud Exhaust

That cutout sounds nice as hell. I cut out my cat for a few weeks on an one of my first cars becuase I was putting on a whole new exhaust, and I left it open for a few days, HOLY s*** was that loud as ****. If you want loud, thats loud, you'll get pulled over in a matter of days, but its loud!

if you go on the highway for long periods of time with a very loud exhaust ,you might end up with a headache...

All that being said....

A long time ago I removed the cat, and just replaced it with a piece of pipe. Then, yesterday, I installed a straight through muffler, and it is LOUD.

I love the sound right now, but I know I will want it less loud in a matter of days... can I just replace the pipe I placed instead of the cat with a resonator to reduce the sound a little? Or will that make it much, much quieter?

I still want to hear the sound the car makes... I just don't want to end up with a headache every time drive for long periods of time.

Thanks,
LOS

hmm.... making lot of holes to your exhaust may make sound louder or driver without one?

Well, you're kinda stuck here. If you put a resonator it should quiet it a little, but I've never tried it.

Really all a resonator does is make the frequency notes bounce around a little more before comming out of the exhaust. A cat actaually muffles it.

Please don't drive by my house, I live in Beaverton. just avoid the whole area...

Why not try jus a 3" cat back with no muffler?

I have the Mazdaspeed axel back, removed resonator, and gutted cat (I still have the first one) and it wasnt loud before I put on my axel back. It dose get annoying at highway speeds for long trips. My dad and I went to Milwaukee last weekend which is about 2 hours away and he said that he wont ride in my car again. :D

I don't know my dad loved it when I had Mazdaspeed axel back.
He loves cars so much :D but he want Hummer...
if you can downpay $10000, with 0% APR with $1000~1500 monthly payments for 5 yrs, anyone can get Hummer lol

take everything off.. get hella cherry bombs.. slap a universal apc junk muffler on the back (the titanium look one is tight, it matches the remote controlled spoiler) the n go have a ball getting sound ordanance tickets.

So what is the point of a resonator then? Does it make the sound deeper or something like that? I always thought it was to muffle it a little.

correct. a resonator is used to quiet the exhaust. you could say it's a "pre-muffler". it's also supposed to help buzzy exhausts sound less annoying.

If you really want exhaust to be that loud...

OPEN HEADERS!

Go buy a '78 Bronco, play in the mud and race a Civic...

Why piss people off with the import crowd?! We already have enough crap dealing with cops as it is...

I want to believe this belongs in the HUMOR section, but I'm fealing kinda funny right now

I WANT SOMETHING THAT IS LOUDER THAN s***. SOMETHING THAT WHEN I DRIVE BY ANOTHER CAR THEY HAVE TO ROLL UP THERE WINDOWS. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINk?? WHATS A LOUD EXHAUST??

I want a quit one!:wtf: (nuts) (guns) (smash) (chair) (uhm)

hey you can be loud but still retain the deep low smooth tone. just depends on your choice of muffler/resonator combination. a turbo will really help the the buzzy situation too :D

That's what I want.... a deep low smooth tone. Because when I put the silencer on my exhaust, it sounds much less loud, but it is not an even growl through the rpm range... it is sort of: low rumble from 1K to 3K, then it gets buzzy from 3K to 4.5K, and it even out an gets low again at around 5K... I hate that.

But if I take the silencer off, it is an even growl all the way trough... the problem is that it is just too loud. I thought a resonator would lower the volume, and still keep the smooth low tone all the way through the rpm range.
