I Want A 1.8L!!

The BP will handle all the power you need. Even if your tuning is kinda bad, but better if it isn't.
 
One Miata guy has a story of reving to 13,000 on a missed downshift(5th to 2nd), and nothing broke. I would have loved to hear that.....

would you sleave the 1.8L to a 1.7L and drop a turbo on it, or keep it N/A and tune the hell out of it?
id go with the 1.7L....turbo it...AND THEN tune the hell out of it! (direct)

I went to the track saturday with the former Turbo Matty P (hertofore know as matty) and he let somebody else drive his car, and this great man of a driver shifted from 1st to 2nd, then back to 1st after redlining 2nd. We thought the clutch went and it reved high as hell.
 
There's no need to sleeve the block. The 1.8L is well proven (outside this board).
 
DragonEye, how fast is a stock VW 1.8T? I'd like to know because I raced this white guy w/ a new gti when my 323/bp was stock and i beat him about a car away. He yell at me at the light after i beat him, " this is stock 30 tthousand dollar car" I told him mine is only $800 and i still smoke you...hahahah

the stock 1.8T is about a mid to low 15 second car.. (if its a manual and the person knows how to drive..) the tiptronic is mid to low 16's...

if he has a 30K car its the R32 and it means that he cant shift for s***... (also that he doesn't deserve the car)

was it a 2 door or a 4 door? because if it was a 4 door then it could have been a TDI, 2.0, or a 1.8T... and if it was a 2 door it could have been a TDI, 1.8T, VR6, or an R32.
 
It was a 2 door. They didn't have R32 then. I think it was VR6 because I remenber him saying that it was a 6 cylinder.

The VW was red, lowered, no liscence plate yet, It had muffler but not too loud just right. And yes he told me it was a $30k car. I dont know y he had to tell me that because I smoked his ass all the way till i hit 4th gear at 6k rpm and thats way past 1/4 mile.

So the r32 and the 1.8T is what I goota whatchout then huh? ok, I'll keep that in mind.

nope, jsut the driver really.... and depends on the mods.... how many exhaust pipes did he have?
 
I gotta admit. Im not a good driver on the track but on the street I dont get nervous and i'll race anyone who wants to race even if i know i'll loose just to see how far the difference is....

No, I dont think he's going to be able to keep up with me. Especially not on my 323 racing against a stock VR6.

if i lived closer i would race you in my VR6 (dads and its stock)

and then i would race you in my 1.8T and show you the difference...(different strength points)
 
I wouldn't refuse the challenge.
Im not saying my car is the fastest but it has a decent power for a $300 engine.
I dont know how fast the 1.8T is but my classmates VR6 last year was getting smoke by a stock grs a STOCK GSR! I smoke a STOCK GSR alll day. Back to TOPIC!!!!!!
 
hmmm.. 1ofdfew323 what mods have u done to the engine to throw down on a GSR?? my car when the engine ran (BPT) would smoke a GSR (maybe even a type R..hehe) all day long but im not seeing how a stock bp can do this without extensive mods.. oh and a 1.8 t aint nothin, till they start modin them..then LOOK OUT!!! and VR6's can be lethal in the right hands. there is a dude near me that owns a VR6 that is turbo charged and all kinds of other goodies and that thing is a rocket

This car ran 14.9 w/ DC headers, AEM CAI, Trust (greddy) full catback, Exedy clutch, Poly mounts @ Sacramento raceway which has I believe 15-30' sea level. on a 75 degree weather. We raced 7 times already and he always beat me on my 3rd gear. Im on his rear bumper. Not much of a gap. When his car was stock and I have all my basic mods we were head on on the freeway and by the time I shift on my 4th gear thats when his car will start creepin' on me but then again this is on the freeway he's suppose to beat me with all that power that he's got.

My car weighs 2,150lbs w/ h,i, 2" piping, no resonator and a stock V6 muffler,
short shifter, centerforce clutch, 14" miata wheels w/ azenis, adv. timing, msd, magnecore, b6 tranny for better gear ratio. That's about it. It aint super fast but sure can beat a STOCK GSR.

Read it again I said "STOCK"
 
Jettas are heavy-assed cars, and some are pretty quick, but it takes a lot of hp to make them go faster.

My car weighs 2350lbs and I weigh 300lbs and my BP laid down 117whp when I did the 1/4 in 15.7, so I see no reason a BP 323 wouldn't be just as fast or faster......
