Yep - they're hail damaged (top, trunk, hood, and the fender tops are pretty dimpled) but otherwise brand new. The damage is significant from a "cost to repair" point of view, but not TOO bad. Thought you'd want to know. I got mine through Oscar at Crystal Auto Mall near Union, NJ, contact (732)968-1000 extension 230. As of today they have 2 black ones left, no orange. Oscar, as expected, says "the deals end today"...

Mine has a carbon-fiber hood planned for next year - I'll miss the group buy but that'll take care of the hood... then it's just the roof! Hmmm, sunroof? Hmmm...
(thought)

Just thought you'd want to know...

so incase anybody's looking for a messed up brand new car we know where to go

Exactly. (chair) With that kind of damage, I wouldn't pay $14,500.00! Actually; I wouldn't buy a car that had any damage like that. No way - no how.

That's not bad considering that most new cars will be dinged, keyed, scratched, or even wrecked within a short matter of time. If the hail damage isn't too bad, a PDR shop might be able to fix the roof. Plus you won't get pissed at the first ding you find, because it is already broken in for you!

A friend of ours bought a hail damaged Civic a couple of years ago. It looked okay at night (not under any lights). But; that was about it. But hey! They needed transportation. Meteorite-like damage didn't much matter to them.

Hey thanks guys, I'm just letting you know, no need to get testy there... ;).

I have no connection with Oscar or Crystal other than I saw the cars there and bought one. The damage? Depends on your point of view (just check the various responses above...). I'm more along the lines of Mazdadan - I don't think mine's that bad, but I drive my car, not show it. Yes, I'll wax it, and yes, the hail damage bothers me a little, but not $5500 worth. Oh - and I don't have pics yet, sorry. I have a pic or two of my car, but you can't tell (have to look prety close and my cameras resolution didn't pick it up - let me know emails and I'll send a pic).

For anyone who wants a show car, don't go there unless you're planning a repaint anyway (in which case it's a pretty significant deal). The discount off what other dealers in the area are asking is $4,500 - 5,500 so I'm REALLY ok with the purchase - I can easily have the work done for far less than that. PDR is another option I'm checking out. Besides - the dimples act like dimples on a golf ball - they extend my drive... :D

hmmm.. do the cars have a completely clean titles (Manufacturer Certificate of Origins)?

Also, whats the dealerships conveyance fee?

Definitely interesting.. I'll PM you for you to e-mail some pics of your car :D

Thanks..

CRAZY!!! Believe me, never buy a brand new car damaged!! I know, I bought my P5 with a dinky little scrape on the front plastic bumper where the dumb@ss moved the cars around the lot and ended up scraping it with another p5. The dealer parks their cars too close together, anyways is was about the size of a finger and they said they'd fix it for free so I figured what the heck, it was the only car that had everything I wanted, and how hard could it be to just touch up a dinky little area.

So to make a long story short it took over 4 visits to the dealership where I waited over 20 hours total, just to have them tell me they couldn't do it, so they sent me to another shop of my choice where they ended up having to paint the whole front bumper to fix it. Just for a little scrape!!!

Just so everyone doesnt make the mistake my grampa made, dont buy a car at night or under dim lights. he thought he was getting a great deal and it turned out it was because of the hail damage.

But those Prices Are Dirt Cheap...I live in NJ...and i was out when it was hailing like that..but i didn't get any damage..even close to what you are talking about!!

Again, the dealership is making no bones about it, the cars have hail dings and are sold at a discount because of hail dings. Period. Unlike "MP5s Make Ready" experience, the dealer is not making any promises about repair or condition, the cars are sold with hail damage and finish as-is. Customers know what they're getting - some might say "yeah - a wreck" (and then put a self-important smiley with rolling eyes into their post) but before passing that judgement be sure to see the cars first and decide for yourselves. Hey - I'm happy - I got a brand new MSP for several thou under invoice, and I took the risk - my call, not anyone elses, and certainly (as evidenced above) not for everyone. Yes, my roof is dinged, yes my hood is dinged (but will be replaced, by me, with a c/f one sometime soon... and here's the big smiley icon on that :D) and yes there are a few other dings on the car, but it doesn't bother me - why does it bother others? It's my car. Its a hobby, yes, but in the end guys its really just a car.

I didn't expect that this would become such a negative thread, and apologize for introducing such angst into y'all! This is a good opportunity for some, but seems to really bother others. I apologize for the bother - unintentional! What a humbling experience for this msprotege.com newbie - next time I'm keeping my lip zipped!

Mine, out the door, was right at ~$18000 total including NJ's 6% tax and maybe $200 for incidentals/documents/etc which I paid eyes-open because I wanted them to do the licensing & etc. for me. Dealership had no problem in not charging for silly add-ons like "window etch" and the other usual junk.

Hope this helps, now I'll crawl back under my rock...(beer)

no worries. some people like to get all up in other's business over nothing. thanks for the info...too bad i already have an almost-brand new pro. that IS a deal, and like you, it wouldn't bother me that badly (depending on the damage). i wonder if they would give me a good deal on my trade-in if they can't unload those anytime soon. :)

so you got charged more than the other cars that it was with? hmm

ping--->(upbum)<---dealer

um, he said INCLUDING TAX. $16,900 plus 6% tax = about $18,000 out the door.

Considering that you were going to get a CF hood anyway, I think you made a great deal. Besides, how much can it cost to fix the roof ?(if you decide to do so), I'm shure it can't be more than 1k$. So 1k+16,900k= 17,900k for a brand new MSP (thumb) .

Do you have some pics?

twizted you're making me laugh! (rofl)

dmitrick thanks for the math, exactly correct (two stars for you!) (bling)

Jac: Only one and it doesn't really show much damage... I don't know how to post on this forum but I can send - I guess it sorta looks like this: (mspb)

exactly how much damage is it? i know this has been asked before, but. is the paint broken? is it bad like you see it and say, "GAH! my god!", or is it more of, "hmmm, what are all those little dimples in the paint?"

and how much is a freakin' hood, anyway?

Exactly? Hmmm - very hard to quantify. It's not "GAH!" unless you're sighting right along the roofline. The paint's not broken, I checked closely (but admittedly, any micro-cracks would be invisible - so it's getting LARGE doses of car wax, and the c/f hood and roof refinished next year once we get an adoption taken care of...)

It's nothing the normal person would notice from 15' away, and only the picky would even see it from 10'. AT 5' you're saying "hmmm, that mica paint is really deep - hey - are those little dimples in the paint?", followed by "well, there ARE quite a few dimples now that I'm looking really close - but that finish is really wild", then a "OUCH banged my forehead on the car!" then my wife saying "Honey are you in the garage - again?!??" and me going "uh-hunh... be inside in a sec..."

I'll try to take a pic or two this weekend to emphasize the damage by sighting along the roofline. That is, if I can stop driving the car long enough to take pics!
