i painted mine with high temp paint intended for headers, i think its rated up to like 1000 degrees < if ur brakes get that hot there is something seriously wrong> . ive had it for about 3 months and it looks just as good as the first day. as for prep i used some cleaning agents before taping everything off. i believe it was tire cleaner, de-greeser, tire cleaner.the surface was already a bit ruff so there was no need for sanding. to this day no chips in the paint, just get alittle dusty so i wash them down from time to time.
