I need pictures to help an accident claim!

Hi all ~

This is my first posting here, and it's for a sucking reason. I got hit a couple of weeks ago by someone going up the down ramp in a parking garage. (hand) I went to go pick up my car from the body shop and there is a huge gap between the hood and the grill/headlights. So now I have to bolster my claim that there shouldn't be such a big gap. I need some pictures of uninjured, stock Protege5 front ends! Closeups are desired, showing approximately how much of a gap there is between the hood and the grill, and the hood and the headlights.

Thanks so much!

how big is the gap? mine has never been in an accident but the gap is pretty big for my taste. welcome by the way.

Need some closeups with a small ruler held in place to indicate the clearance as well.

I don't have the hatchback, or i'd do that for ya.

Hey bigbadbats,

Heres the best I can do for U. This is a pic before I installed the AutoExe grill and Lip, so it should give you a good idea what the OEM gap should be. The picture should be big enough to let you see the size of gap easily.

Car's outside now in the sun, just been cleaned. On the way out of the apt, I'll try and grab some shots and use a tape measure for distances...

ok here you go.

These pictures are in the imperical inches. I thought I got pictures in cm as well but I guess they didn't take (shrug).

#1 - hood to passenger side fender. (~.3")

#2 - hood to passenger side front bumper. (~.75")

#3 - Hood to driver side front bumper. (~.7")

#4 - Hood to driver side fender. (~.25")

Hope that helps you. It's important to note that I looked at all sorts of different angles and depending which angle you measure, you'll get a different measurement. This is most apparent at the front near bumper - another angle measured .5"

I can try to take more shots of the car if you'd like (really liking how the laser blue mica looks up close and personal)

someones gotta cut their nails dont they....(thumb)

Thanks just tryin to help out other forum members. Let me know if you need more pictures. I'm actually glad I did this - it motivates me to take more macro shots of particular areas of the car. I'm very amazed at how nice the mica stands out in them.

As for the nails, they're staying for a while. I'm a guy who is into functionality and I HATE when right after clipping nails, there's always that time period when they're useless and you wish you would've waited a day or two to cut them! haha
