I need help from anyone and everyone..

well this is one of the first times i have posted in about 2 months or so... a lot has happened in this past few months... this is what i need help about... on august 29th i was driving my friend to meijers for a UofM thing... well at the light right before the store these 3 guys in a 1999-2001 Black F250 which had a huge lift... YE HAW.... started making fun of my car... then they continued to call me very degrading names... i wont say b/c i dont want to offend other people on the board... durring this whole time i didnt say one word or use any gestures... and i just thought to my self that they were drunk and were trying to start a fight, so i just ignored them... i proceded to turn the corner and then a beer can hit my car... i turned into meijers and they were inches from my bumper... my friend wanted to keep driving around and then eventually they would stop following us... so we drive to the nearest industrial drive with a lot of twisties and i wanted to see if they could keep up with me ... well i got about a half mile ahead of them and i said to my friend." watch this ill get them in a s*** load of trouble." so i called the cops... keep in mind this was about 15 mins total of time.... the operator asked me if they were still following me and i said that they were about a 1/4 mile behind me and they were stuck behind 2 cars... the operator then told me to pull into the meijers gas station b/c we were heading back to where it started... so i pulled into the gas station and waited for the police to show up b/c i was told they were on the way... then the truck pulled up behind me. the operator again told me to wait.. i then looked over and the driver was standing outside my window .. then he punches out my window and hits me 3 times in the face.. while i was blacking out i put it into 1st gear and floored it... the 3 guys then started driving away ... the operator told me to try and get their plates... so i went through 3 red lights.. carefully... and finally caught up to them and they were waiting to get through a light to get on the highway... i was about 100 feet away when they put it in reverse and floored it towards my car.. out of reaction i quickly got over 2 lanes so the didnt hit me ... i got 4 digits out of 6 on their plates... then they got away... when the police FINALLY arrived 12 min later .. they did the typicall stuff.. i had glass in my face and i couldnt see out of one eye... the officer said they would go back to the station and cross reference the plates and try and find out who it was...
i called the officer back 3 days later to find out if they found who it was.. she said "they havent found anything significant (sp?) " which means they didnt even Fing look... which has pissed me off... i have since called her back 3 times and recieved to return phone call...

does anyone know what i can do to find these guys .. i want them caught...
i know there is a cuple cops on the board so could you guys and girls please help me...

and keep in mind this all happened b/c of my car... which is rediculus...:mad:

Just a thought because a friend of mine did this when his car had a hit and run. Get a picture of a truck that looks similiar to theirs and make a flyer with all of the info that you have and then pass that flyer out to every gas station and fast food place in the area. if the guys lives anywhere near there he will need to get gas and when he does hopefully someone will call you or the cops. Sorry to hear all of that happened. i know the feeling though as I was picked on alot in high school because of my car. And yes even a couple of fights because of my car. Some people will just never grow up. Side and mute point but I carry my pistol with me just about every where I go. It is legal and I have all of the permits.(sorry but like he said there are cops on these boards and I don't want them to think that I am a vigilante or anything) It just gives me a piece of mind with all of the crazy stuff that happens in the world today.

Not sure of the legalities of it and hopefully a officer will chime in but would shooting out the tires of a vehicle in which a person who assaulted you is in be against the law. You are not shooting at the people only at the tires.???????? Just curious becuase I know exactly where this guy is coming from and if I ever find myself in a similiar situation I would like to know my rights.

Well, that totally sucks. I think, however, that I can get your cop thing taken care of.
First of all, it's a pain, but cops take time. Just like welfare caseworkers, teachers, drug counselors, etc, they are way overworked. NOrmally their caseload is backlogged. It takes over 2 hrs to do the paperwork for a DUI for some districts. And then they have to wait for info from other cops who's caseload is as heavy as theirs.
I used to never trust the police, and spent most of my young life running from them. But as I become an adult, I find (as I'm sure you would agree) that cops are the best way to go. That said, dont bug the detective on the case, they can have hundreds of cases, and an assault cannot rank as high as a murder, grand theft, etc. Leave another message saying you understand the detective is busy, and hope things turn out well in the case. Offer some positive support, and he/she will remember your case an put a little extra into it.

On the flipside, if you feel you are honestly being cold-shouldered, call the general non-emergency number and ask to speak to the shift supervisor. Keep in mind, the shift supervisor is at least as busy as the detective. Make it known that not only are you upset about the incident, but you fear for your safety, you drive there frequently, etc, and worry that the incident may repeat itself. Here is where cops have to act quickly. Researching a crime that is over and done can wait a bit. Preventing a crime is a much more pressing concern. Keep in mind, though, that by "bumping" your case up, you may be bumping someone else who may be in more immediate danger.

And in response to a related question, unless you can prove you're shooting at tires only, and you're the best shot in the world, shooting at anybody or their car is assault. For example, if you shoot someone in the leg, you can be tried for attempted manslaughter/murder even if you were not trying to kill them, if you cant prove it.

Go dircetly to the chief of polic the area this happened in and demand he does something or you will be forced to take matters into your own hands. Also try and speak directly to the ditric attornies office on the matter and inform him the police have not helped you at all. If they refuse to help within a few day write the hole thing up and submit it all local papers include all fact and the police officers names that were basicly useless.


If all this fails split the airfare with me at we'll take care of the mother ******.

Four out of six digits is damn good. If you know those #'s and that its a truck with a certain color paint and with a lift, the state department of transportation should be able to narrow down the vehicle fairly easily and provide the police department with some info. Try calling the DOT.

Assuming you KNOW they had michigan plates, and you know four out of six digits, you KNOW the color of the truck, and you KNOW the trimline and generation of the truck, your best bet woudl be to do a vehicle search, I can't say exactly how this would be done - but If you want to feel something is getting done, you could go to a DPS officer and ask him/her about it. If any of the home addresses are in your area of the vehicles, I'm sure it wont be hard to find a big ass lifted f-250s, F-250s are pretty rare, and I've NEVER seen an F-250 with a lift. ANd I live in Texas of all places, so I'm gonan guess you can do some detective work on your own. Something of note tho, I guarantee you all the databases that have info on that truck are not gonna have info saying it is lifted, that I'm sure wasn't a dealer thing.


BTW don't worry, hindsight is 20/20, and whn you are in a situation like that you don't think all that clear as normal. But for future reference, instead of stopping, it might have been best to find the most well lit, most populated (most people in vicinity) area, or just keep driving til you can find a cop.

Anyways you did what they told you so you couldn't have really done better, I hope you are okay man, and, don't let hate make you blind to the rest of everyone in F-250s. Sure they deserve to flip to damn truck and get stuck under shards of glass while they bleed to death for hours, but hey, doesn't mean my uncle, or one you guys brothers is the same way, just cause he has a big ass truck with a lift, stereotypes are bad. Oh and people with gunracks are evil. Haha j/j, It will all come out in the end man, hold in there.


Something of note, are you sure the truck was true black? The 1997-2003 f250 (all super diesels apparently) come in some colors that look black, check here.

You know with all of the computer guys on this board maybe somebody has a "friend " that is a egggghhhhhmmmm "Hacker" could just peek at the DMV 's computers and run a search for that vehicle. Everybody brought up a good point that you have almost all of the information you need. Should only produce a small list of cars that meet that criteria.


Oh just thought of this on the shooting the tires thing because I reread the first post. If this guy was in his truck and you were behind him and he started trying to ram you or run over your car that could be considered assault with a moving vehicle and attempted manslaughter, soooooooo shooting back at the tires to pop them could be considered self defense.... couldn't it?????

I'm totally the opposite. If that happened to me, I would have gotten out of the car and beat the s*** out of at least one of them before they all ganged up on me and beat my brains in. I would have at least bitten a chunk out of the guys face or something. How big is the city you live in? If it's not too big, try to find them yourself. Keep going back to that area you were at when it happened. You should have let them hit your car also. That way if they ran it's even a bigger offence.

BTW... did the beer can do any damage to your car?? if not... first make sure you find him... then put a BIG FAT DENT on the car somewhere and get him to pay for it... preferably.. if you have some minor damage somewhere else... just put a dent near that and get it fixed for free

The same s*** happened to me yesterday on my home. They did'nt throw anything, but talked thier s*** about my car, made gestures, blah, blah, blah. Anyway, they were driving one of those stupid-ass red ******* neck trucks ten feet in the air. One thing I 've learned about these types of rubes; the reason they have such big trucks is to make up for lacking in penis size, so they make fun of everyone else.
