My honest opinion is to not get one until u get a turbo or sumthing.... or else impreza dudes will say ur copying them so on so on.... u know... my 2 cents.

The STI is nice/and would be my choice. Would it be functional?

i probably still will get the scoop just for looks right now and my mentality is that "if it looks good there will always be haterz" and hell i am copying the impreza..i do plan for a turbo in the near but the scoop will beat the turbo...i am gonna go all out to tell the truth i might put he side vents on also..hey i might be biting on them but it will look sweeeet....i can jus say it is for a cooler engine bay...hehe..STI it is...i am still tryin to find the best price...160 is the price so far...i am gonna look in a junk yard some where or maybe a chop shop in NYC....i dont know

You asked for honesty:

I say neither. I didn't even like it on the Subaru before the WRX. I will give a lot of latitude in appearance for something that is ugly, but functional. But I hate items being added to a car that are just ugly.
Now, if you tell me that you are going to be cutting a hole in your hood and that the scoop is going to aid cooling (not that we can even tell if the engine is running hot with our stupid idiot light temp gauge) then I would say go for the STI - it looks "better" than the regular.

save your money for something else
big brake kit
that hood scoop is going to f with the cars arodinamics(i cant spell)
you are just going to get your engine dirty,
thats if you cut a hole.
our front end is like the mustangs so i would go down that route i'm sure you could find one in a yard.
on the looks side of things looks cool

I think that sti hood scoop is phat shitz! If you want the rally look put the scoop. Anything thats rally looks cool to me. Just dont rice up your car please!! Alteezas, neon, 6inch mufflers, Wings that can fly you to the moon! All that crap makes us import guys look so ridiculous

sorry, i agree with jsesq. both scoops have rounded features which don't fit with the mazda's edgy look (straight lines, sharp edges, etc).

I gotta go with Spoolin....I'm far more into "Go" before "Show". The STI looks nicer, but personally I think the car looks just fine without it.
