I need a better dealer in NOVA......

So, after lurking here for almost two years, I though it was time for me to take the jump and get a MS3.

On Sunday I went to a Mazda dealer in Chantilly VA (Brown's). I met this guy named Ron and told him I would like to test drive MS3 (they only had one left). He said it is out on a test drive. I said I will wait.

10 minutes later he comes back saying "this might take a couple of hours". I said, Ok, fine I will wait.

5 minutes later, "it looks like the guy wants to buy the car, in which case I cannot let you drive it", fine- if that is the case let me know.

Then finally he comes and tells me with a straight face that the car ran out of gas, and they have to send a mechanic, blah blah blah.

Now, I knew he was lying all along, but I did not want to embarrass him. In any case, I got pissed and left. What I do not understand is that he had no reason to lie. If they did not have the car, then that is fine, I will come back for the 2010. If they had the car, and did not want me to drive it, that is fine too.

In any case, he told me they are getting one 2010 on 8/6. Well I am not going back to that place.

If you dealt with another dealer in Northern VA, or Washington DC, let me know.

that dealer is just strange man........... goto edmunds.com, check dealer's inventory online and request quotes, then go to the dealer and buy an ms3 for under invoice. :]

i know what you mean. while comparison shopping before i bought mine, i made a stop at a local dodge dealer, one my parents had dealt with with good results in the past. well, i go in, ask to test drive a CSRT4, of which they had 3 that i could see on the lot, and he told me that the last one they had just got a deposit put down, so i couldnt drive it. ok i said, let me sit in it and check out the ergonomics at least, so they finally agreed to that. after i got out, i started talking to the guy about how i wasnt looking to buy one for a few months so i'd prob order one made my way and wait for delivery, so he starts talking about how i should buy one from the lot because that's when they had that gas price guarantee. i somewhat politely reminded him that the offer doesnt apply to the SRT models, and that he should know that since he works there and hes starting to feed me incorrect info. then later in the convo i mention how ive heard that the clutch is pretty fickle in that car, to which he replies yea, well the first thing you do when you buy a performance car is swap out for a better clutch anyway. i asked why they would produce a garbage clutch from the factory, and he said the clutch wasnt bad but that i looked like an enthusiast who would want to modify anyway.

the mazda dealer didnt try and spew this BS and keep me from driving the MS3 because i was 21 and out by myself. the least dodge could have done was run my credit and seen that i would have been a more reliable buyer than most of the people driving around in their minivans.

unnecessarily long story short, some dealers are just idiots. ive been out car shopping with a few less-auto-knowledgeable people now as an extra source, and its sad to hear the 'facts' that dealers will try and pass off on people. from now on if they do that, call them on their BS, and tell them that you'll go to the dealer in the next town and give them your business because they arent retards. best way to get your point across with them usually is to make sure that they know their mistakes are going to cost their wallets.

It's amazing how there are still plenty of salemen at dealerships who don't realize people are doing their research on the Internet before coming in to buy. They can educate themselves the same way - and you know they have time to do so since they're not selling cars every minute of every day.

To the OP - don't worry about test driving the '10 Speed3s at that dealer. They'll probably say the tires aren't on the car yet...or that they need to fill the car up with headlight fluid.

Yeah i went to couple dealers in NOVA, out of all of them the worst is the one in Arlington, Va. They changed the price right before i signed so i was forced to walk out, funny thing is that the car i was going to buy is still on the lot. I ended up going to Congressional Mazda in Rockville, MD i called them before hand and settled on a price 22,195 + tax and tags for an 09 Black ms3. Try them out and let me know how it goes!

Thanks. I will definitely go there once the 2010s arrive. I may get a good deal on the 09, but I cannot live without bluetooth, and I am not interested in replacing the stereo. Looks are irrelevant to me.

It is a bit of a drive though....

I bought my 09 at Brown's Mazda is fairfax. My friend is a salesman there, Chris McGreggor. He can be reached at 571-338-9846. I'm sure he can arrange a test drive and give you any info that you are after.

I bought my car at browns chantilly mazda and had a great experience. I worked with Ted Pak and he was not the best but the General manager was awesome, and the finance manager was cool too. I got a good deal from them as well.

Thanks Jared. I just took a test drive today, Chris was great, but they only had one black MS3 and could not find a red one anywhere. Also I was disappointed I had to do the test drive in traffic, I had to pay attention to traffic the whole time, in any case, it is quite a capable car!

I had problems getting a test drive @ Bill Britt in Fredericksburg without the sales person going with me. I don't need the sales staff in the passenger seat. I'm mid 30s, married, and showed up in a car that was about of equal value (new). Just give me the keys and let me go. While I was having the discussion with the sales person, the sales manager came out, and handed me the keys. "Take all the time you need." Then again, this was late 06 and the car just came out. I'll give them a little latitude on that one.

Otherwise, the dealership has been fine. I've bought 3 cars from them, my mother has bought 2. One in 1983 and one in 2007.

I was orignally going to buy my MS3 at Congressional Mazda but I wasn't happy with the service and ended up buying the vehicle in PA. I had been taking my vehicle in for service at Congressional Mazda but now I use Gaithersburg Mazda instead.

priceless, just pricelss. only way to get monday morn started, with a good laugh. (rlaugh)

We bought our P5 new from Fairfax Mazda... they treated us great, and the few times I used there service department they were top notch as well.....

I bought mine from Brown's Fairfax Mazda, I got my Speed3 under invoice.

My friend who works there sold me the car, he now works at Chantilly Mazda, and now I go there for service as well since the Service Adviser is also my friend.

Go to Chantilly and ask for Carlos. Trust me, he's a no BS salesman.

Thanks. I see they have a single '10 MS3 now, they are the closest to me so I am going to go there and check with Carlos.

Did you buy a 2010 MS3, or an older version?
