All you need to do is jack up the front end. It doesnt take that long if you have all the tools.

I just did this on my P5- +1 on the EGR, and if I were you I would order new gaskets for the header to block and header to midpipe (my header to midpipe was torn up), and don't forget the non-fouler for the 2nd o2 sensor...there's a how to here somewhere. Feel free to post questions on this if you have any more...

ps- I would get an impact for the job if I were you, and some pb blaster

you will need part# BP4840581A from onlinemazdaparts.com, this is the donut gasket that goes between the pipes, in the directions it says you can use the old one.... good luck getting the old one off.... and then just the non-fouler.

def one of my best mods! probably the best one for nonturbo'd pro's. good luck. i love the header. i wish there was something else that added a noticeable gain besides turboing, my only option is the mp3 ecu. haha

The factory O-ring gasket will not come off a car that's going on 7 years old now. Definitely get a new one before you attempt this.

ha. mine came off pretty easy. took a a blade and some patience. but i got it off just fine.

Mine ended up splitting apart, all the wire came off. and it got ugly (86K miles)... so i had ride around without one for about a week or two... and god damn.... talk about loud..

Yeah, you defiinately don't need a lift. Floor jack and a creeper works just fine. Hit all the nuts in the exhaust system with some pb blaster, WD 40, etc a day in advance to help with removing them.

i think i had to end up taking mine to car x, since it's spring loaded at the catalyic and end of header i had to get new springs. everything was rusted bad!

im not talking about a sniff test or anything but could an mp3 with the obx header and non-fouler pass an emmisions test

yes it could if you still have your stock midpipe cat. You might fail a visual test though if they know you're supposed to have 2 cats.
Best advice is to drive the car hard for a good 15 minutes before going in so that your cat is nice and warm (and therefore work optimally when you're being tested).

If you're not talking about a "sniff" test, what kind of emissions do you want it to pass?

Go to your DOT webpage and it'll give you a better idea...or talk to other locals to see what procedures they'll do at the testing site..

Where I'm at, they plug in the OBDII unit...check for any Check Engine codes and you're done....So with my OBX/Defouler and High-Flow cat..I passed...cause I never threw any codes.

In Cali, they also do a visual, which would come up FAILED...

A sniff test, without the visual under the hood still may pass due to having the second catalytic converter in place..

yea i live in georgia and when i get emissions they dont do visual or sniff test so i guess im clear to get a header

not much of an emissions test if they don't test the emissions OR look for emissions components.
